Confederation founding question

According to the WC Wikipedia the Terran Confederation was formed in 2416 after the World Economic Consortium fell. But according to the ad for the No Mercy holovid the main character of the Crusader series was responseible for the World Economic Consortium's fall. The thing is if I remember right the Crusader games were set in 2195. Is there any explaination for the 121 year gap in between the World Economic Consortium's fall and the Terran Confederation's founding?
 
I imagine that "after" does not necessarily mean "immediately after". And AFAIK, the mention of the WEC in the WC history is more of a 'nod' to Crusader rather than a declaration that the Crusader and Wing Commander universes are tied together.

The WEC in Wing Commander isn't the same one as in the Crusader series. The various references to the WEC and the poster in Star soldier are simply nods to a fellow Origin series, much the same way the various characters named after origin employees are not actually 700 year old people in 2669.
