Confed Internal security

Hi everyone :)

It's a looooooooooooong time since Mjav was here last time :)

So, here's a question:

Can anyone give any details about Internal Security of Confederation?

I.e. uniform, emblems, their ranks and so on...

Mjav is now gathering company to play an RPG,
and one of players has chosen to be an IS officer.
She's a pedantic person when it comes to roleplaying,
and questions mjav of IS.

So - will anyone help?

I guess that ultimately depends on what you mean by Internal Security.

If you mean the TCIA (the Terran Confederation Intelligence Agency) we don't know much at all, save that as the name suggests they're Confed's version of the CIA and apparently well integrated into the Confederation military structure (Vance Richards went from being a destroyer skipper to an intel officer.)

We know a bit more about groups like In-System Security; they're Confed's border guards and if the beginning of WC2 is to believed have the same ranks and uniforms.

Well... maybe the name is wrong...
But Insys - they're only Militia, aren't they?

Mjav means those who do hunt traitors and spies.
Those who track Mandarines.
Those who were told to "shoot to kill if any pilot happens to be near comm room" in WC2.

Sure there must be some info about them...

In-Sys are Confed government forces; they're literally the coast guard. Militia are the regional police forces.

The folks in charge of shipboard security are regular Fleet security forces. Maybe marines.

Espionage is handled by Confed counter-intelliegence. We don't know anything about their grunts.

I always figured that the Militia was actually more like the state militias from which the US National Guard evolved, rather than like a police force.

Righteous Fire implies that Militia forces are organized at the Sector/Quadrant level, although there are doubtless also local space police who don't have jurisdiction outside of their home systems. The Militia would be like the Highway Patrol--if there were lots of armed Highwaymen around for them to fight, that is.

It seems to vary. Flash's Home Defense unit from the Wing Commander III novel seems to be a similar concept to earlier state militias... but the militia in Privateer are certainly treated more like police officers rather than National Guard.
