My nephew, Pvt. James Gardner, U.S. Army, is home on leave from Fort Hood, Texas where he is in a mechanized infantry unit.
My neice, Michelle Gardner, is spending Christmas in U.S. Air Force boot camp.
My neice, Pvt. Annie Lindley, U.S. Marine Corps, is spending Christmas home on emergency leave, due to two deaths in the family. She will be reporting for advanced infantry training at Camp Lejeune, N.C.
These three fine young people are the latest in a long line of service men and women who have stood ready to defend this great nation for over 200 years. They will spend many holidays, birthdays, and other special occasions away from home and loved ones. Please remember our fine service men and women this holiday season, and if you see one, thank them for keeping the freedoms you enjoy safe.
