Don't bother with a double bass pedal. They're not really worth it. Just learn to double-clutch really well. I took my double bass apart and I just use one now. It's better that way. Unless you're going to be playing death metal, or some of that late 90's hardcore (which got incorrectly lumped in with "nu metal"), then you don't need a double kick, anyway.

My style is Progressive ala Dream Theater. And Mike Portnoy alot of times is playin straight double bass for sometimes several minutes.

Yah, you don't need a double kick. Learn how to do it with a single. That's the best. People will be really amazed at you then.
