Spaceman
i am in the last mission with only flint as
the remaining wingman.i don't know when and
where to cloak and land on killrah.

Look at the nav map... It'll tell you at which Nav point you need to cloak.

But than it's just not fun, though I did do it once when I tried playing the thing on nightmare.

I realy can't understand why people have problems with that mission, Palading said in the briefing to look at your nav map to see where you have to cloack.

Or you could be one of those guys that decides he's going to do something... And does it no matter HOW boring it is...

If all else fails, read the nav map.

Knowing when to cloak or not is only half the trouble, you need to beat Thrak AND Hobbes, not that either is a big deal.

Beating Hobbes flying a Hellcat in Alcor, however and surviving the rest of the mission, that takes some skill. Anyone else live through that mission?

Why would you want to kill Hobbes? A Hellcat is no match for a Thunderbolt... Besides, you're not much of an officer if you decide to go and hunt him down.

Unless you play the game as "Bastard-Blair"

But that makes you even less of an officer

Hey, I just noticed that you clearly gave up on counting down to 2001. Didn't feel like changing your sig everyday?

Death's Head- I tried that a few times during my first play-through of WC3. Its a hard battle but not only does it not make you much of an officer, Vaquero dies in the process.

Kain- Here's how I usually handle it. Like everybody else said, check your nav map but if you want a good clue of when to cloak, its when you fight endless reincarnations of Stalker. When he's rolling around in death, thats when I usually cloak and gun the afterburners towards the nav point until autopilot activates. Then when that point is reached, I uncloak and take out Thrakath and Hobbes. They fall quite easily to an Excalibur.

playing WC makes you an officer? Anyway playing the strait and narrow get's boring eventually, I play to have fun and I think it's fun gunning down hobbes in a hellcat, especially when he is in a tbolt.

who cares? In the short term, I have enough pilots. Besides, you can just reload the game before you go to the flight deck, assuming you did save it, and decide to listen to reason when you have had enough fun being unreasonable.

odds are you don't live to see that vaquero dies anyhow.

Actualy I care, because when I'm going to Kilrah I want to have wingman that listen to orders. Since you can't count on Maniac and Flash, Cobra is dead, and Hobbes is a traitor, you only have 3 pilots that will listen to you. Vagabond, Flint and Vaquero.

Actually, Earthworm, on the Kilrah run Maniac does follow orders, to the letter. The Kilrah series is the ONLY one where he does, though. IIRC Flash is more attentive, but I'm not sure on that, and can't find my official WC3 strategy guide.

Realy? Hm, I'll have to try it when I'll replay the game. Maniac kills much faster than Vaquero, but because of his disobedience I almost never chose him as a wingman.

Earthworm: Actually, both Maniac and Flash obey you in the Kilrah mission. That's what really got across to me just how important this was. When Maniac follows orders, you know you're in trouble

But at any rate, the wing commander that accepts the loss of the third pilot in the same day as unimportant in the short term, won't remain the WC for long. You must keep in mind that while Blair takes off on his mission, the others have other assignments to undertake. So if you lose them, who's gonna fly the boring patrols, or escort the garbage scow to the asteroids
