Effects are already better than before, but yeah, could still be improved. However, you can't go too crazy as the mobile hardware is much more limited than PC/console. But I'll try to give the blowing up of things a little more variety.
The characters are pretty standard SF people. Yes, the suits could be in another color then black, but otherwise, I don't see a problem here. It's how I'd imagine an armor/space suit combination even without looking at Mass Effect.
The boost can be triggered but also held down. The system recognizes both. Hey, I'm really proud of that!
Now up to my favourite topic, the constant speed. No, you haven't overlooked anything.
Let me ask you, why do you usually change the speed in a space game?
1. To get away from an enemy/missile or chase after one -> you have the boost for that
2. To slow down to match your speed with a bomber -> tedious to do without a real throttle control. Because developers know that, most games also have a match speed button. But GUI space on mobile is limited.
My approach: simplify all of that by giving all fighters the same speed. Simple, huh? And so far, no one really critisized
that.
To eliminate situations where you are endless circling around your enemy and vice versa, the guys boost away when they are too close to you.
I love these low level game design tasks.
3. To stop when you are shooting a stationary target. Yeah, you cannot do that in this game. But stopping and shooting is boring anyway, and there is really only one mission type where it would be useful (blowing up outposts). When attacking a mothership which is also stationary , you would get blown up pretty fast when standing still.
The alien does look very cliché, but this is not Stanislaw Lem but the most basic science fiction premise there is. I think the guy fits in a cheesy way.
Thank you Whistler for the feedback, really appreciated.
