a bit of a dilemma...

with the concordia class. ok what we have here is two different concordias class carriers. the first one is the one from wc4. while it's supposed to be confed's oldest carrier class in existence, it is very much styled to fit wc4, and totally unfits the style of previous eras, such as wc1,2 and wc tv show. the second one is the concordia styled to look like a ship from the wc1 era, but it is not canon. which one should i use?
should i go for optics? i mean there are a goodly number of visual interpretations of the bengal, why not also for the concordia?

Well, consider: have you ever seen anyone talk about how very happy they are that there are so many different interpretations of the Bengal?

no, but i want to avoid my mod looking cobbled together.all ships should follow the same design ideas as the others. the problem is that the ranger/concordia have totally different design parameters. the question is wether i should keep coherence with the design parameters or the canon(game canon, not movie canon of course)

and what exactly is a wasp?

"Game canon" and "movie canon" are the same darned thing.

It sounds like all you're really talking about is the paint scheme. Paint it green and white if it makes you feel better.

not really. i mean if you look at the claw or exeter, they share some general characteristics, like the wings and the long pointy nose, for example(look at the second model, you'll see what i mean)

the paint scheme will be green grey anyway ;)

Ranger class and Concordia class looking as one in WC3 and WC4. I think it's Origin fake. And i think the WC universe have more ship model, then we are view in game. Look at preevater series: military, police and civilian ship is so different. And look at real fleet. So many model's! I think Concordia class in WC1-2 era may be see like Gettisburg modifikatin. Model and idea is greate. But, may be back side of carrier build more elegant (around dock its so... easy may be...)?

What everyone seems to forget that the Concordia and Ranger class ships as well as the escorts (Sheffield, Tallahassee class etc.) are all pre-WC1 designsl. Those vessels reflect the design styles of the 2630's and 2640's while the Claw and the Concordia (WC2) reflect the more modern Confed ship designs. The WC3 ships aren't out of style at all, they're the old style. That is why they don't look like the Claw and Concordia.

Try to make them not to look as WC2 era ships.

WC2 ships, no matter faction or size, use to be overcolored and over shaped. I almost have to use sunglasses playing it.

I'd better use more functional designs... but this is a matter of PERSONAL TASTE, for sure !!! :)

Concordia and Ranger Class carriers is pre-WC1 design. But other ship in wc3 and wc4 is new... As i remember - in wc4 light BW carrier is pre wc1 design and rebuilding in the carrier.

hmm, so you're saying that all confed ships(except the behemoth, which fits visually with the others) are prewar designs?

anyways i've skinned the wc4 concorida, put it ingame and...welll, i think it looks totally out of place. even in green grey instead of blue grey, it looks like a brick. the pics are too big so i linked them:

If you really think the Concordias don't match the rest of your game's visual style, you're just out of luck - you can't do much about it. Remove them altogether, or make minor adjustments (like paint scheme, small changes in shape) if you have to, but just don't pull a completely new design out of nowhere and call it a Concordia.

You generally want to pull as little stuff out of nowhere as possible, and only when you have no other choice... as a rule, people don't like it when you feed them your own personal interpretation of the WC universe and have the audacity to slap a "Wing Commander" title onto it.

Talahasse is NOT pre war design. It positioned as NEW artillery cruiser. See dialog Blair-Tolwin and Forstchen nowel

If I remember correctly (been a long time since I read the novel), that dialog is probably the reference to the early development of what would become the Plunkett class Artillery Cruiser in Wing Commander: Secret Ops. The Tallahassee class cruiser has always been referred to as a heavy cruiser, not an Artillery Cruiser.

its really easy to take an existing design and adapt it too. here's the old conncordia class i did for my project (the never ending project). same concordia...only a little curvy.
