4000 Days of Wing Commander News (October 2, 2010)

By our reckoning, today is the 4000th day that we've updated the CIC front page! In twelve years of operation, we've been around for some 4400 days. At first glance, that looks like a 90% update rate, but we haven't missed a day since 2003! Who would have thought we'd still have daily material to report on in 2010? We used to wonder if the well would dry up, but there doesn't seem to be any end in sight. The only limitation seems to be time to sift through what everyone's doing and organize it into neat packages. You're a very active community that gives us plenty to report on. Thanks all, and keep it up!

Whoo! Congratulations on this milestone! (:

Incidentally, I remember an announcement some years ago that you had made it through X many continuous days without missing an update. I'm honestly amazed that you're still keeping that chain going and surprised to learn that it was all the way back in 2003 that this trend started. Well done, everyone: CIC and the community!

Yeah, I think the last day we missed was in May 2003 shortly before Prophecy Advance shipped. Like I mentioned above, it's rarely a lack of news, but usually a lack of time that makes things tight. Being able to tap something out on the go on the phone has saved us a few times recently. You'd think it only takes a couple minutes to write a few sentences, but there's a lot more time before that in reading up on a particular item and understanding what's going on with it before we even start typing.

Oh, I absolutely appreciate that. Investigating each potential news item can involve all sorts of reading, testing, browsing, etc.

My belates congratulations to this achievement! I am really impressed with how superbly organized this here is and how you always manage to bring something new each day. And the headlines are always at least mildly funny if not hilarious (IMHO). You can be sure that I feel bad for being so inactive for quite some time now.
