Wing Commander Finally Gets Its Due? (February 3, 2016)

Given his comments, it sounds like he was definitely an active PC player at the time these came out. I think what he's getting at is that they are no longer mentioned or referenced for their influences as much as maybe they should be. So its about how they are underappreciated by *today's*...

Walk Down EMSory Lane (February 13, 2015)

I remember this stuff, and I actually credit it for my getting comfortable with computers early on. I had to do it to play the games I loved, so I figured it out, which is one of the things that put me on the path to software development.

    Darkdawn: Encounters

Oggy, yes, sorry, its Windows Phone 8 only. I'm building with Unity, and it never supported WP7. In fact if I recall correctly MS only really wanted you to use XNA for WP7 , which made ports much harder.

    Darkdawn: Encounters

Hey, I remembered someone here wanted the Windows Phone version. Well, its up on the Windows Phone store now! There are still massive updates coming soon for both versions (and the iOS version) but work is really sucking the life out of me these days. But more *is* coming. I did just integrate...

    Escapist Reviews Wing Command Prophecy

What bugs me the most about the WC3 & 4 review how openly hostile he was to the FMV craze in general. He specifically mentions skipping them all those years ago because of some ill-considered grudge against casting Mark Hamill. Its pretty clear he'd thoroughly pre-judged the games before even...

    Darkdawn: Encounters

Well, I can only work on the game on my free time, so its hard to predict. Sometime in the 1st quarter of 2014 I think is a pretty safe bet, but I'm hesitant to say anything more specific than that. That would be (near) simultaneous with the iOS release. An Ouya version is increasingly likely...

    Darkdawn: Encounters

Windows phone will come later (at the same time as iOS) but I have an earlier version of the game already working great on my Nokia 820 devkit phone (thanks to MS for that!). So its coming, just a matter of time :)

One More For The Confederation's Archives (November 8, 2013)

Huh! I didn't know Syd Mead was involved in Prophecy. Very cool!

    Darkdawn: Encounters

Hello fellow Wingnuts! I expect you all are playing Prophecy right now since it was just released on Gog. Or staring at the download bar like I am. Well, I have something you can play ig you can't get to Prophecy right now (and if you have an Android phone or tablet)! I've just released my...

    A new Sci-Fi tabletop RPG

Hey Richard, I can't find the pdf on your page (maybe I totally missed it?). I do have an ipad I use mostly for development (I prefer my Nexus 7 for day-to-day use) so I can get it from the iBookstore later, but a generic PDF would be appreciated.

What PC graphics resolution do you play modern games in?

1080p as well; like most have said, its my monitor's highest resolution. And I think its just as well; any higher and very new games might start straining my video card.

Mega Starship Size Comparison Adds Wing Commander Ships (September 29, 2013)

That may be so, but these are hardly the largest "rung" on the sci-fi ladder. The Independence Day mothership and Death Star are an order of magnitude larger than the largest of these, and beyond that we have objects like the Dyson Sphere shown in next-gen and the V'Ger energy cloud (each at...

Mega Starship Size Comparison Adds Wing Commander Ships (September 29, 2013)

Ugh, don't start that... Abrams already thinks that for Star Trek to be "cool enough" he has to make all the ships frickin' huge. The Connie is just shy of a modern Nimitz-class carrier and that's just fine in my book.

Get Your Game On (September 15, 2013)

Given the way EA looks at things, I'm sure if they went next-gen they'd go cross platform. Which, by the way, the might well be considering. I'm sure someone over there has figured out by now that games like Star Citizen, the new Elite, and Eve: Valkyrie have been making some waves. Someone...
