It was not really fighting against an ace, but that simulator battle against Flash in Wing 3 was pretty tough if you were playing an Ace or higher. I remember having to load up several save games so I could keep him as a combat pilot.

Welcome to the CIC. Did you try the mirror server? I downloaded the file from there and it was not broken. There are no voice files for the first Wing commander. I think there was voice in Super Wing Commander, but that was never released for the PC.

The remake is pretty darned awesome. I must tip my hat to the developers of that game. I tell you what would be really cool is if somehow a remake of Wing 3 and 4 using the Secret Ops engine, complete with all the FMV. I doubt it would be legal though.

I actually liked Privateer 2 as well. There was something about the British atmosphere that lended a bit of class to the voice acting, plus it was downright weird. I am really glad that they did not try and tie the Wing Commander license to it, as it was a decent stand-alone game.

I love loading up the mission in Prophecy in which Hawk switches off your flight recorders. There's something about the way he says, "You're the best wingman I've flown with since your father," that almost makes me proud that I just dusted those Kilrathi.

Is it just me, or does it seem like missiles are much less effective in WC 2 than the original Wing Commander? I remember about 60 to 70 percent of my missiles hitting their targets in the first game. Do all enemy ships now have counter measures as well?
