    The Hardest Missions!

The last mission in Novaya Kiev in WC2, where you have to jump into a system by yourself and fend off 3 Sartha and a Ralatha while you try to tractor in a data pod. I remember being so frustrated by that mission when I first played WC 2. I'm not a huge fan of Broadswords in the first place -...

    Buying WC3

Okay, thanks for the input. I purchased the regular edition, and I think I made the right decision. It was cheaper, and it was what I had before my copy disappeared a few years back. I’m not really looking to be a collector or anything. I just want to experience the joy of playing Wing...

    Buying WC3

I'm looking into buying a copy of WC3. Somebody has the WC3 Gold Edition for Windows 95, like new with box and all documentation for $25.00. The also have the standard edition with all documentation. If I can get it to work properly, I'll probably be running WC3 on DosBox, as I currently...

Wingmen disappearing in SM1 (Is this a bug?)

Go to https://www.wcnews.com/files.shtml. Scroll down to Wing Commander. Then scroll down to Tools, Editing, and Fan Patches. Under that section, there should be a file called WCSAV. This is described as a savegame editor. Download it, read the instructions that are included, and do...

This game is still alive but EA wants to kill it

I've always thought it would be interesting to play a game set during the same time period as Wing Commander I or II, only on a different carrier. It might be neat to see what some of the "old" ships - Broadswords, Ferrets, Hornets, WCI era Dralthis - look like with newer graphics. A new...

Wingmen disappearing in SM1 (Is this a bug?)

I posted about this several weeks ago, when I started playing SM1. The "death" is due to a bug in the game. There's a cheat program on the downloads section of this website that will fix the problem if you run it. As an added bonus, if you keep track of how many kills you score on your...

This game is still alive but EA wants to kill it

I wouldn't say that Wing Commander fans would feel a need to have videos. When Privateer 3 was in development, I believe it wasn't going to have FMV. And I think most of us would have been happy to have it anyway. Seriously... I wouldn't mind dumping FMV. The current trend seems to be away...

    Games that need sequels

For years I thought I'd never see another Fallout game. Now Fallout 3 is in development. Whether or not Bethesda will do a good job with Fallout 3 seems to be open for debate on most of the fan forums. But, still, at least there's something in the works. I'm looking forward to when we...

    WC3 and Starvector.com

The WC2 Deluxe Edition I purchased from Starvector also came with manual but no box. However, I paid $29.88 for mine. Excuse me while I go somewhere to cry... :(

    Wing Commander novels

I have rather fond memories of reading the WC novels. I think End Run and Freedom Flight were probably my favorites, with the game novelizations my least favorite (I preferred to play Wing Commander III and IV, not read about them). I realize there’s not much chance of any new Wing Commander...

    Your favourite WC1 NPC

Funny... I just started playing WC 2 on DosBox this evening. So, I actually just watched the cut scene where Doomsday says that. Unfortunately, from what we learn later on, we know that Doomsday's quote was inaccurate. After all, in Fleet Action we learn that Hunter is alive at that point...

    Your favourite WC1 NPC

Knight could have been out on patrol when the Claw was destroyed, meaning he probably would have ended up leaving the system on the Austin. And Stingray could have been reassigned to a front line carrier before the destruction of the Concordia. Or, he could have missed the destruction of the...

    WC3 and Starvector.com

Actually, I did just that after I finished my last post here. I was on my way back to edit my last post to let everyone know that I found out about the loadfix I need to use. It didn't take very long at all to find information on that. I'm really glad this website is still around. I...

    WC3 and Starvector.com

The invoice lists both WC 2 and WC 3. But, behind WC 3, it says "[B/O]." And, according to the invoice, they didn't charge me for it. The item number for WC 3 is also listed as NID. Believe it or not... I've actually never ordered anything off of eBay. I thought about checking for WC III...

    WC3 and Starvector.com

Although I've played all of the Wing Commander games, from WC1 through Prophecy, I've been missing my copies of WC 2: Deluxe Edition and WC 3 for several years now. I'm still not sure what happened to them, although I suspect they were either A) misplaced during a move, or B) "borrowed" without...

    Your favourite WC1 NPC

And the fact that Doomsday, of all people, manages to see the end of the war is quite ironic, given all the moaning he always does about how he (and everyone else) is "going to die" soon. :)

Who did you smooch, Flint or Rachel?

He was? I admit, it's been a few years since I've played WC IV... But I don't think I ever noticed that.

    Your favourite WC1 NPC

The thing I never understood about Iceman... The game manual said that he was from Canada. But, whenever he took out a Kilrathi, he always said it was to "avenge" what they did to his family on "Vega 9." Insofar as my favorite WC 1 NPC, I'd have to go with Hunter. He always seemed more than...

    So, who's a cat person.

I love cats. We always had at least one when I was growing up. We had two of them - Tiger and Joan - until just a few years ago. They died within months of each other back in 2004. I miss having a cat around. I think this is probably the longest we've ever gone without having one.

    My new project

You know... I just realized that the Kilrathi in those pictures have no tails. For the life of me, I can't remember whether the Kilrathi have tails in any of the other games. Is this consistent, or is it something that changed?
