    Loaf's Carrier List

Hello everybody, I was wondering if anyone had a link or a copy of the carrier list Loaf wrote up a couple of years ago. Thanks.

WC Saga Upgrading to Conquest: Frontier Wars Engine (April 1, 2011)

Well someone had to fall for the April Fools joke. It might as well have been me.

WC Saga Upgrading to Conquest: Frontier Wars Engine (April 1, 2011)

So does that mean all the years of work on the Freespace 2-based mod have been scrapped?

    Kilrathi Saga WC2 in Win7

The patch works perfectly, thanks! I am having no trouble running either Wing Commander 1 or 2 in Windows 7 now.

    Kilrathi Saga WC2 in Win7

I just installed both WC1 and WC2 on my new Windows 7 64-bit laptop. WC1 works fine without any additional work; however, I can't seem to figure out how to run WC2 without the colors going all wonky. Is there a patch or a known fix to get it to work? Thanks all!

    Confederation Class Design Questions

Capital ship paint schemes changed constantly throughout World War II. USS Nevada at Pearl Harbor with dark and light gray: ...and the Nevada much later on during the war: LOAF once mentioned that the paint schemes themselves might indicate a particular fleet force. I remember a...

    Confederation Class Design Questions

I was under the assumption that the entire class was new. Weren't the Confederation-class Dreadnoughts built around the reverse engineered Kilrathi proton weapon that destroyed Goddard?

    New Wing Commander Game?

This could really explain the kind of bulky, utilitarian look of Confed's technology represented throughout the series of games. A kind of cultural aesthetic backlash against Pilgrim ideology.

    Wing Commander 3 Frigate - similar to a DL/DLG?

It seems Confed also recognized a growing ineffectiveness in anti-fighter weaponry. The flak cannon was, according to the Kilrathi Saga manual, scheduled to be retired in the last year of the war. Confed antimatter guns, per Victory Streak, were used mainly to defend against bombers and...

    Wing Commander 3 Frigate - similar to a DL/DLG?

The target ID of the ship Paladin came in on was 'frigate', so the game designers obviously wanted to put in something different than what we had seen escorting the Victory.

    Wing Commander 3 Frigate - similar to a DL/DLG?

The laser/flak turrets of capital ships seem generally ineffective in shooting down fighters. It is a little surprising that we don't see more war-era ships with IMREC/IFF launchers. As far as I can remember, the only Confed ships that carried an anti-fighter missile battery were the frigates...

    Wing Commander 3 Frigate - similar to a DL/DLG?

Paladin was brought to the Victory on a frigate. However, a Southampton model was used instead of the Frigate model. Does anyone know why the frigate model wasn't used?

    Wing Commander 3 Frigate - similar to a DL/DLG?

I was recently re-reading Victory Streak and something about the Frigate entry made me think about a ship development which came about in the years after World War II. Large anti-aircraft ships originally called destroyer-leaders, later called frigates (in the US), took on the role of...

Saga Releases Final Destroyer Shots (May 24, 2010)

Not that my two cents counts for much, but I really don't care for this rendition of the Southampton. Beyond any issue of whether it's too dark, it just doesn't feel right. I can't quite explain it beyond that.

    The not be Midway

I don't know if it is a right or wrong thing. Back then, we didn't have the invaluable Star*Soldier manual. Prior to its publication, LOAF's explanation was probably the most valid creating the least amount of fan clutter playing with unknowns. It would seem a convenient fit as the WCM manual...

Weapons and Armor - Kilrathi War Era

What explains the failure of the AMG to bypass shields in WC3? We know that AMGs completely bypassed shields to directly attack armor in WC2. Why did the AMGs batter shields in WC3? Was this a conscious change by the game developers?
