Joysticks are a problem in KS, though I have found that calibrating every time you start the games helps. Bit of a pain, but better than using the keyboard. Get a better feel for the ship with a stick.

I would tend to go with the original specs in the SO fiction. What came first is generally more accurate.

It is a Confederation class dreadnought, though. The coloration is different from the Connie, as well as the ship number, but otherwise the ship on the cover and the Connie have the same configuration. None of this answers the question about the Tarawa, however.
