    Jump Bubbles or Jump Buoys?

Spirit, if the purpose of classifying bases by "faction" is to regulate ship ratios, maybe Brad's concern might be addressed simply by removing the lables. After all, if I go to New Detroit and see mostly merchant ships, I'll think of New Detroit as a merchant kind of place, without the need to...

    Please describe WCU!!

Will you be able to play Kilrathi, stuff like that? Because if you can, your time as kilrathi privateer can overlap the years as human privateer; but it's customary for the player to be part of a race or faction during victory times, for WC style military campaigns. If so, there need to be gaps...

    SaveGames from Original Privateer

No, different engines, completely different. In the remake, the game state save file and the ship state save file are separate, for example; and there's a lot more data saved in the remake.

    on transitioning to RF...

How about... * Terrel gives you the little speech. * You tell him "I'm not cut for the military." and "will get my head checked out". * You go back to the ship and find the gun is not there. * After checking around all over the place, you go back to Terrel's office. *...

    Jump Bubbles or Jump Buoys?

Okay as long as the distance to the epicenter of the jump point is independent of the way of marking it. The way it is now, when I'm in the Vega sector, the balls are small AND you have to be within it to jump, which gives you a very small window of opportunity.

    Jump Bubbles or Jump Buoys?

I vote for neither. One of the few positives about Privateer 2 was the introduction of jump gates. Makes a bit more scientific sense, in the sense that wormholes wouldn't just happen there, so here is a piece of technology, a ring that creates some kind of field that precipitates a wormhole...

    Please describe WCU!!

Here's an idea: Perhaps the transitions between Privateering and Navy service could be gradual. Say, at some point the hostilities with Kilrah are intensifying, and at first you get missions for the Confeds, but then they offer you some sweet deal to enlist. Later on, and once you've been a...

    New Constantinople destroyed, gone!

The first time it happened I had to look really hard, but then I found a hunter, er... I thought it was a hunter; It was an Orion ship, but it said nephilim. In subsequent times, I never found a ship attacking the station; I only saw ejected pilots, and these have no ID yet, in HUD; another...

    New Constantinople destroyed, gone!

Again! It's those welders. Definitely. But they are like inside the station. I get the bastards selected, but they are seldom on the outside, where I can deal with them. Most of the time they are inside the station, cause I come from above and from below the disc and all I get it the target...

    New Constantinople destroyed, gone!

I shall go in the Guiness Book of Records for the one who saved humanity the most times by reloading ;-) Yep, I reloaded again, and cruised around sucking any suspicious ships into my cargo with the tractor beam (I got a Paradigm, with Steltek guns and fusion turrets all over). But then...

    It happened again... :-(

    New Constantinople destroyed, gone!

I guess I will save humanity, by reloading an older savegame... ;-)

    Autogen Bases Randomness?

Just to clarify a subtle point: Autogenerated does not necessarily mean random. It could mean any rule or algorithm that generates data. Even a pseudo-random generator will generate consistent pseudorandom numbers if starting from the same seed number. And a generator could be made a lot...

    New Constantinople destroyed, gone!

Oh, I think I get it: That nephilim ship had steltek weapons? EDIT: And does this mean that wherever they attack, stations will be gone? What happens when all stations are gone?

    New Constantinople destroyed, gone!

Allright, captain, you were saying.. "What happened is that somehow a Steltek Scout was spawned while unscripted. In WCU, the Steltek Scout carries a base-killing energy net weapon (like the Foreshadow in LEXX)." Never saw LEXX if it is a movie; never played it if it is a game. But I've...

    Modding/Adding to storyline

I don't know; but I think this being the vegastrike engine, storylines are coded into xml files, and special functions might need some knowledge of Python. Maybe someone closer to the engine can offer some more detail. Or maybe you could ask at vegastrike.sourceforge.net's forum.

    Wishlist

When I first played Privateer, I thought it would have been cool if the PDA would allow you to type notes into it. In Privateer 2 the plot line is quite complex and there's a lot of things to remember and try to make sense of, so there too I was wishing for an improved PDA. The only thing...

    Missile Slingshot bug

Conservation of momentum applies to subatomic particles, and in the abstraction of perfect spherical objects of infinite elasticity. If you shot a 105 mm shell at a stationary bus, conservation of momentum might give you the wrong impression that the shell will bounce back with a speed about 99%...

    ITTS bug?

With autotracking, the guns aim for the ITTS reticle on your behalf. But the correction angle is limited, so you still have to try and aim for the reticle yourself. The shots don't curve, but by aiming for the reticle, they have a greater chance of arriving at a spot at the same time as the...
