I've found that this can usually by fixed by going into the DirectX diagnostic program, going to the sound tab, and setting the acceleration level to "Basic". Good luck.

Well, it's not too bad, really. It's weird, though - everything was exactly right last time I played. Every time I got on here and read someone mentioning this problem, I kept thinking, "What the hell are you talking about?" Very odd indeed.

I have had the Kilrathi Saga for a long time now, and the WC2 cutscenes have always worked fine. All of the sudden now, though, the cutscenes go by ulta-fast. The ones with speech are still OK, but the normal ones without speech zoom by. It's not just the words, the mouths move at crazy...

Try turning your hardware sound acceleration level down to "Basic" in the DirectX Diagnostic Tool. If that doesn't work, try taking it all the way down. I have that problem, and this clears it right up. ------------------

Question: why is SO considered a seperate game, and not an add-on? You don't need Prophecy to play it, but you didn't need Jedi Knight to play Mysteries of the Sith, and that was an add-on (well, it checked to see if you owned Jedi Knight, but that was stupid and served no purpose. JK didn't...

Is that what that does? I love those things! I kept my old Monster 3D just for this game, and I was hoping this patch would allow me to finally get rid of it, but if it doesn't do that, then I'll just keep it. Perhaps my next video card will be a 3dfx, though. It depends on what else is out...

Thanks. What exactly does fogging do in the game?

Where can I get this? The link from this site seems to be broken. Also, does it give you all the effects that a 3dfx card will? I remember one other thing besides lense flare that you got with 3dfx, but I can't remember what that is.
