    Some mission assistance...

When you receive the message, call up the nav map. You will see an additional nav point. RIGHT-click on it to set it as your next destination. Finish off the rest of your map, then press auto pilot. You will be taken directly to the nav point where the Confed pilots are in trouble. Beat...

    SM1 Problem

Just kill 'em fast. I've never had difficulties with this mission -- recommend save all your missiles and use 'em all at this nav point. Also full guns. Recommend hit 'em once with a missile then follow up with full guns. Kills 'em pretty quickly. Respectfully, Brian P.

    Most HATED weapon...

Actually, the mace was available on the MorningStar and the Dragon, and I seem to recall using it on the Vindicator as well (once you've captured the appropriate thing in WC4 you can always mount Mace in place of Torpedo on any torpedo-carrying craft). I liked it because I *could* use it...

    Ejection pods

All other things being equal, I'll eject. As Flash put it, "I'm worth more than this piece-of-sh*t fighter!" What if I'm captured? No problem .. there's always time to commit suicide by biting off one's tongue, so I'm no worse off than if I stayed with the ship. Thus, I accept possible...

    WCP Quotes

Play Privateer 2 at the hardest difficulty levels (you reach this either by completing the main plot, OR by earning more than 150,000 credits, OR by making about 1000 or so kills) (I usually flip over with the second -- I found money very easy to earn in P2) and you will NEVER complain again...

    WCP Quotes

What I liked about Privateer 2: * Comparable graphics to WC4. * Interesting trade engine. Finally get wingmen in Privateer. * Monoliths!!! * The actors. All right, so the star wasn't pretty -- he was a privateer! He's not SUPPOSED to be pretty! He's supposed to be gritty and tough...

    Roger Oldziey CD?

What will be on it? Respectfully, Brian P.

    My Tolwyn Essay

Re: Re: My Thoughts An admiral sends good people out to die, often on missions that are frankly suicidal. Perhaps it's not a big jump from ordering men to their deaths to killing them yourself. Respectfully, Brian P.

    Roger Oldziey CD?

A couple of months ago we put together a petition for Roger Oldziey to release a CD of his music. IIRC, the petition was successful. So ... where can I buy this CD? I'd prefer an on-line link so I can order directly from, say, CDnow or someone like that. Respectfully, Brian P.

    Gunners (Bang, Bang)

I think they're automatic, but the ship engineers don't trust the automatics completely, so they built the turrets so that they *could* be run manually in an emergency -- I think the modern Phalanx CIWS on US Navy ships operates on a similar system. Respectuflly, Brian P.

    Now Hear This

Is this a new thing the admins are doing -- if you tick them off, but not enough to ban you, they stick some ridiculous picture in place of your rank? Looks like you've been turned into a pug, and Preacher's been given the Scared Poster picture (a great picture, by the way, very funny)...

What's the Stupidest Way You've Died? (Now 20% More New And Improved!)

Disagree on trading. My wife plays Privateer a lot, and flies around in a Galaxy. Hauling radioactive ore to new det brings in a *lot* of money -- in my experience, more than drug smuggling. Of course, it helps if you've also got a cargo run or three from the Merchant's guild to your...

    With or Against?

In the novelization he was the CAG in WC3. The explanation I come up with is that Blair's other duties weren't modeled in the game to focus on the piloting aspects. Yeah, CAGs aren't supposed to fly, but then again ship captains (in WC4) aren't supposed to either! My concern with the idea...

    Privateer 2-The Darkening

Hmm .. what made you dislike that Mass Ion? It's a preference thing, obviously, but I'm still curious .. To others -- I always thought a laser specifically meant a beam of coherent light. There are multiple ways of producing this, and multiple frequencies said beam can be on, but the...

    Privateer 2-The Darkening

So what's the canon explanation for the fact that everybody's back to using lasers and ion cannons when a hundred years ago everyone had tachyon, plasma, neutron, and particle cannons? Did the Retros win or something? Respectfully, Brian P. PS. Would anyone agree with me that...

    Who are the Hari?

Perhaps -- but they still wrecked the ecosystem of said planets. Thus, we can see that if the Kilrathi hadn't exterminated them, the Greens would have. I don't agree with your assessment of crimes "against the environment". Yeah, it can be taken to extremes, but remember that the Hari were...

    What's your (Call)Sign?

I used the default call signs ("Maverick" and "Frosty") to remain true to the story, but in Privateer I used "El Toro". Why? Because my favorite way to kill Talons was to ram them at full speed with my Centurion. It got so bad I decided to (metaphorically) paint a set of Texas Longhorn...

Where are the Nephilim from? [2]

Is anyone's blood pressure ever so high they can't eat a nice, filling lunch with Steak Fajitas? Mmm.. high blood pressure or no, I ALWAYS feel better after chow. Nothing like chow to make me feel warm, peaceable and that all is right with the world. Whaddaya mean I'm fat? --...

I recommend you eat the filling lunch anyway. A temper like that may be a sign your blood sugar's getting low ... :D -- Brian P.
