    Celestia

Well, the links semm to work now, both ways. This is really good stuff. Given the nature of the Celestia engine, the possibilities are nearly endless. The thought of applying this program to Wing Commander or a Privateer-style game... [drools]

    Celestia

Ya, I've been having a pretty good time with it too. Not only does Motherlode have real celestial object to add on, but you can add Sci Fi stuff like Star Trek, Star Wars, etc. I just installed the Defiant. Take that Dominion! Criticalmass, I was interested in that link, but I get an error...

    Celestia

A friend of mine brought to my attention this really neat piece of software. It's a catalog of celestial objects in real time 3-D. It's totally open source too, which means it's free to download. I just spent over an hour hopping from moons to planets and stars. Here's the web address...

    WC Comic Progress?

I was pretty keen on the idea when it was taking shape a couple of months ago. Any new developments since then?

    Gwynedd a backwater system...

If my WC knowledge serves me, you can't jump from any point in the system, you have to jump from a specific point, and there may be many points in the system. Take the Arial system in WC3 - excellent example. There are several points in the system, and Eisen takes the Victory to another jump...

Current Poll: Wing Commander on NextGen System?

So far the folks that voted "I would not play a console game" are very much in the lead. They have brought shame upon their families. I've always held WC console games in high regard. I think if anything, it's only expanded the fan base by making the games more accessible to those aren't...

    Maniac and other WC characters

I don't know, we're talking 8-10 years of combat duty between 2654-2669, and given the rate you can chalk up kills in the game, it doesn't seem too unreasonable. Factor in any post-Kilrathi War incidents we're unaware of, the Border World incident and the war with the Bugs, and I'd say that...

    Enterprise Officially Cancelled

Ya, I was checking out the preorder status on them over at Amazon, Season 1 is available for preorder now. It's really unfortunate that the Star Trek complete seasons cost so much - I would love to own Next Gen and DS9 in particular - just not for $600 each.

    Yea WC1 ringtone, yea!!!!!

That would be great, then you can have someone call you again and again, so you can hear it over and over and over until you've completed your mission... :D

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: The Movie

Now now, I thought the BBC series from the early 80's wasn't bad. As a fan of the books, I felt they did a pretty good job translating it to TV. Sure, the special effects were terrible and the acting was pretty cheesy, but it was a lot of fun. I'm also curious to see how the movie will turn out.

    Ship Names, Political Ramifications

Anyone know what the significance of the name TCS Johnny Greene is? Shame on me if it's obvious, but when I googled the name, I didn't get much.

    Omega Project (Fleet Action)

As much as I agree that Behemoth is not the Omega Project, I don't really care for these "the writers at the time didn't know it would exist" explanations becasue the Origin folks could just as easily have tied their future stories into the prior material. Simply because Forstchen didn't know...

Too bad Mass Driver failed to make the list, that's my vote. Teamed up with the Neutron Gun on a Raptor...KER-PLOWI!

    Christmas lights are still up

I'm sure it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to take those WC3 paper models and turn them into Christmas ornaments. Maybe next year.

    Cap Ship Shields

I've thought about this topic at length, as it's not really addressed in any WC literature. One theory of mine I've applied from the the Star Trek universe: phasers and other weapons, as well as small craft, are tuned to the defense shield's frequency, which allows those objects to pass in and...

    WCM in Starlancer?

I thought the WCM CGI was pretty above average considering that they didn't have a really big budget. The dogfight scenes were pretty cool, as was the assault on the shipyard. Keep in mind this opinion has nothing to do with the fact that the "Tiger Claw" wasn't right, the Kilrathi looked...

For those who play on STEAM

Dishwasher was working on a UT 2004 WC mod a while back, not sure what's going on with that these days (been a while since I posted). It looked pretty cool. Here's a link to the thread: http://www.crius.net/zone/showthread.php?p=225471#
