WC mentioned in "Sequels We'd Love to See" list

Huh strange, I found this link today on Slashdot: http://slashdot.org/ Ah well, no matter. ....and yeah Prophecy = WCV - and they call themselves gamers. Pffft :)

WC mentioned in "Sequels We'd Love to See" list

Pity about the "No sequel likely" tag - they're probably unaware of the strong community hope thats been growing lately :) The list starts here: http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/755/755782p1.html .......and the WC entry is here: http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/755/755782p20.html There's...

    "Re-booting" Wing Commander

That's actually not a bad idea. I've never really liked the idea of prequals. I've always prefered the story to continue down the timeline, but you've got some good ideas. The tech-tree aspect could make for some interesting gameplay mechanics. Plus it's always great to fly against the cats -...

    "Re-booting" Wing Commander

I have agree with you, WC4 is cheesy (The Borderworlds take no prisoners!), but then again so was the rest of the series, in its own charming way. I can see its a matter of perspective in regards to what people find "adult" about any given story/enviroment, but for the age of 16 I thought WC4...

    "Re-booting" Wing Commander

I don't mind all that dialogue. It's a drama in space, and it's actually quite refreshing. Deeper than usuall storylines make for good tv imo - beats all the shit thats usually on. Much being Wing Commander action is where the meat is and so much character interaction happens within the cockpit...

    "Re-booting" Wing Commander

I've noticed more and more that people are so much more "who cares" about FMV's these days. Unless there's interesting dialogue high-production values or big names no-one really cares anymore. Which is good, keeps writers and designers on their toes. Back to this whole re-booting...

    "Re-booting" Wing Commander

With the immenent release of C&C3 I truly now have newfound hope that we will one day see a new Wing Commander game, sooner rather than later. My rationale is that if EA are willing to spend millions shooting that glorious (:p ) FMV then surely they would consider doing the same for a new WC...

I just shot off an e-mail now. Thanks again starlord. *gulps beer and starts up Star Hammer*

    a funny resemblance

My thoughts exactly. When I played this I always imagined the game with WC-themed graphics, music, story, ships and.....the works actually. A multi-player element would of been great too. If only I learned how to program! *kicks lazy-self*

    a funny resemblance

Ah memories! I remember Star Hammer from the same PC Gamer UK mag. It came with the shareware version of a cute top-down racer called Slicks'n'Slides. Both of these games spread like wildfire through my schools computers. Fun. I actually started looking for StarHammer a few months ago for...

There was a more recent WC type game

I read an interview with Derek Smart who said that he was the only one that had anything to do with the making of the game. It must of been BC2k I think. I quoted you earlier - not sure on etiquette thats all.... Action orientated huh? Like bigger guns, battles and explosions? That just...

There was a more recent WC type game

Sorry to bring up old posts but I'm interested in what you think Chris, about the "space-sim" and how it could grow up? What would you change to add some extra depth into a tired but worthy genre? As a matter of fact I'm interested in what everyone thinks about this topic.....?

There was a more recent WC type game

I understand your point. I guess it's my fantasy to have a closer look at what I loved most about the WCverse, which is of course the characters and the story. This has been done very well with all games in the series so far, probably more so than any other game series that pops into mind at the...

There was a more recent WC type game

Yeah but Battlecruiser 3000 was designed, programmed and paid for by one guy - a dedicated team with more time and a much larger budget should produce something a little more cohesive I think...

There was a more recent WC type game

I realize that grafting on a poor mans Doom in between flying missions isn´t going to do the genre any good, it would be another nail in the coffin. Icorporating well thought out story elements into ground based interactive enviroments would only be positive in my opinion. A FPS portion should...

There was a more recent WC type game

For the simple reason that it has not continued in it´s current mould. Not that I would´nt be interested if it was, it just seems to me that the space-sim genre has reached its pinnacle with WC, I-War, X-Wing and the Freespace all contributing in some way, and it now needs to evolve. For me Wing...

There was a more recent WC type game

Yeah i remember this game.....and your description is apt - I got bored with it about halfway through due to the boring mechanics, decor and story. Still I agree totally that cross-genre gameworlds are nessecary for the WC universe to continue, throw in some adventure game and RPG elements too.
