WC4 Mod For Homeworld 2 In The Works (June 5, 2006)

Wow...I'm going to have to look for a copy of Homeworld 2.

    PiArmada .09 released!

Hey, sorry it took me so long to reply back. I didn't have much trouble making maps...it takes about 30 min to draw one out on graph paper, then another 30 to 40 min to write a file up. Then it takes another hour or so to test it...going through the sector, trying NOT to come into contact with...

    The Hardest Missions!

Other than Kurasawa 2, two missions come to mind. The second mission of SM2 is a patrol in Hornets, and the last nav point has a ton of Jalthi and 3 Fralthi. Halcyon tells you not to take them down, but I managed to do it anyway after about a dozen tries. I remember hearing the failure music and...

    News update

This all sounds great. I'll be interested in finding out more on the scoring system. From what it sounds, I'll have to practice quick-killing Kamekhs...points galore.

    PiArmada .09 released!

Yes, I did have trouble with the earlier versions. I think I figured out the problem...in the .armada001 directory there's a shortcut that I'm guessing is used to access Vega Strike. The shortcut is set to C:\Armada\...\, but I installed the game to D:\piarmada\...\. I fixed that and Vega Strike...

    New Airplane

Yep, that's it. The phenomenon is called induced drag. The winglets act as kind of a barrier, that prevents the vortices that cause it from being created at the end of the wings. I knew that aerodynamics book would come in handy someday.

    PiArmada .09 released!

I gave the game a whirl this evening, and I think this update's a big improvement. I was getting an error message at first, but using the "fullscreen = 0" that was mentioned in the readme file fixed it. The game window was still too large, however to use (my computer's resolution is 1280x800)...

Rank on all time kills list.

Very high...on the "flight recorder forging" list.

    Cockpits or no Cockpits

Exactly. I remember there was one cockpit in Privateer (Tarsus or Orion...it's been a while) that was very frustrating; critical viewpoints were blocked for no discernable reason. I guess the designers wanted to give the ship the feel of a non-milspec craft, but it didn't work for me. Howard...

For Pete's Sake: Last Chance to Enter! (April 27, 2006)

Yeah. I took the Hornet high score a couple of days after the contest began. I figured that was the one Stern was going to have the toughest time beating. I also thought that since the craft was so far down the scoreboard list, no one would notice that I beat it until it was too late.

    Worst Fighter?

Yep. That's got to be the most difficult ship to fly. No armor, no shields, most of the other ships have more speed...no gun convergence. Not that I'm complaining; it just kicks the game up a notch. Off topic, but when playing the Hornet, has anyone noticed that the first DF missile fires...

New Standoff Scoreboards Rank Wingnuts Globally (January 8, 2006)

But Dundradal could mean the Broadsword or Crossbow; both of them have the "bomber bonus" of up to 80% because they have no ABs. He could get well over 2000 if he was quick-killing with either of them. And if he was, I tip my hat to him...it's not easy to shoot selectively when you're flying...

    LEGO Aircraft Carrier

That would be amazing, but reinforcing the wing hinge-joints on a life-size Lego Dragon would be quite a challenge. Not to mention the effort required to move them...

Actually, I use a keyboard as well. I never could get the hang of using a mouse, though.

    LEGO Aircraft Carrier

Yeah, Ijuin's correct; the numbering sequence is related to the order in which the carrier is commissioned. It seems that escort carriers have a completely independent numbering system, but it follows the same rules. According to Wikipedia, there's a gap from #50-#57; they're labeled as...

    Most Average Fighter?

My vote's for the Hellcat V. It had average speed, guns, shields, missiles...everything. If you added a torpedo mount, it could been sent on any mission. Not that it would be good at those missions. Jack of all trades... Also, who else thinks they should have called the Tigershark "Hellcat VI"?

    Jotunheim 3

Like LOAF said, if you succeed in the third mission but still get put on the retreat path, then something had to go wrong on one of the first two missions. According to the online game guide, the first one involves escorting a Drayman; that's probably the one. As for the actual mission, the...

    LEGO Aircraft Carrier

You're right...if you removed the top part of the runway, covered up the back with two engines like it already has, and added two pods to the sides, it'd be the spitting image of the Claw...I would be running to the store looking for WC Lego kits.

New Standoff Scoreboards Rank Wingnuts Globally (January 8, 2006)

Yep, DFs will stop a highscore attempt in its tracks every time. I never thought I would fear Drakhri more than any other Kilrathi ship...I'm glad I finally got above 10k in a Wraith; once I figured out the right strategy, I scored about 5k more than before. Unfortunately, the Confed fighters...
