    Vectored Thrust, Aerodynamics, Cloaking

Hence why they also tell you not to puncture these things or put them in so much heat. But why would a star fighter need such an immense amount of pressure? Full baloons pop easier than flat ones. You wouldn't want too much pressure inside the cabin. Not only is our pilot going to have a tough...

That argument is defunct in Australia.

    Wing Commander dream cast

Amen. He can still do Tolwynn. As for the others, their original actors/actresses. If they are too old for it, then the ones that were in the movie. I feel a character loses credibility every time their face changes. Academy was a little different to the series, but the voices helped keep...

    Vectored Thrust, Aerodynamics, Cloaking

That makes sense. That'd explain why the movie rapier is mentioned as not being atmospheric fighter. I'd say it'd a bit like the orbiter of today. It can "fly" through an atmosphere, but can't operate. The rapier might be able to sustain straight level flying, but those wings don't look very...

    Vectored Thrust, Aerodynamics, Cloaking

But see that's the thing. Aircraft face the same problem in the clouds as well. We face it. Always getting blocked ears etc. I'm assuming the pressure is set at a similar level on earth. If anything it'd make more sense that the closer you get inside an atmosphere, the easier it is on the ship...

The one thing I don't understand is this "pressure differential". Aren't they flying in pressurised cabins anyway? It seems so in the movie, their helmets are not sealed like in the other flight suits.

Maybe we should just ignore what Halcyon said and take it as a "the programmers didn't have the technology to make a seperate flight engine for atmosphere AND space. The same reason your space craft will still act like they do in space when in atmosphere a decade from now".

"Air" isn't oxygen on it's own. It'd be a mixture of Nitrogen, Oxygen, Argon and all the other stuff.

It wouldn't create drag though. It's nothing like colliding with particles in the air.

    Vectored Thrust, Aerodynamics, Cloaking

I like the "realistic" flight model of the movie. The fighters bank and fly as if they do here. I'd say it's all the positioning of thrusters. The main driving force comes from the engines (hence you're able todo shelton slides etc) but there are thrusters all about the ship in order to allow...

    Favorite Wingman?

He should have been for Melbourne. It still excites me that a Skip was the main character in a game! Love it. Hunter has that "on the edge of your seat" style and that really appeals to me because I feel I'd be the same. Not in it for the killing like some, not a huge insane flier that takes...

    Landreich?

He was a Commodore at the time. When he took over from Captain Thorn (and onwards) he was an Admiral. I think they're talking specifically about his service as an Admiral.

    Vesuvius Vs Star Destroyer

Tie Fighters seem to have some interesting manueverabiliy. I reckon it'd be a tough fight for the fighter wings. As for the two cruisers, I'll bet on the Vesuvius. Not only would it be able to out manuever the Star Destroyer, it's shields are simply un-matched. The Star Destroyers are so weak...

    Flight Helmets

I'd definantly be intersted! Especially if we can have our call signs on it.

    Landreich?

;) I should have been a little more specific. A large porition of the ship is still intact. Life pods/fights/shuttles/corvettes/etc. It's just hard to believe so much of the crew could have been killed, that none of them were able to survive the crash itself.

    Landreich?

Not sure where Vespus stood at the time. If it was a contested area I'd say they'd have destroyed it or attempted to salvage bits and peices in order to recycle resources and to prevent the Kilrathi from doing so. Another question: I can't understand how all hands on board were lost.

    Mandarins

That brings up an interesting point. I haven't read the novels that tell the story about the battle of earth. So why did the Kilrathi lie and betray us? That seems very cowardice.

    Mandarins

He wanted to get the humans back first who failed him. Manipulate our worst enemy to do some serious damage against us. Then I guess he'd have turned on the kilrathi or continued on his crazy act of working with them.

    Landreich?

Space Shuttles do it for part of their trip back I believe to. When they do a de-orbit burn I think it's called. They face opposite to their orbit and increase speed in one direction to decrease their speed in the other direction and pretty much start to fall backwards.

    Mandarins

And all the races in Academy. But once they served their use, there was evidence to suggest they too would be exterminated.
