Interessting... can't say something about this right now, because it was very long ago when I last played SM1... but I'm playing WC1 again these days, but very slowly, just a mission here and then... I think I'm now at mission 10, so it will be weeks or perhaps even months before I will be thru...

Let me think... as far as I remember, I managed some hits head-on with the guns when he first came straight towards me, but the missile did not work in that moment, and so that wasn't enough. I then had to chase after him, was able to put a missile in his back, and eventually I then shot him...

Just in case that anyone else encounters this problem: The solution I found is that you can select the frame rate with ALT+N (lower) and ALT+M (higher). This way, you can get the game to run at a "playable" speed even with newer hardware.

Good news, I finally got him, and it even worked without the "cheap trick" :) Thanks again for all the hints... in the end, it was kind of a combination of them all that made it work. :D

Hi everyone! After losing my interest in WC (and space flight sims in general) about 10 years ago, it kind of "came back" now :) And it's great to see that the WC CIC and the forum are still there after all these years! So some days ago, I installed KS again, starting with WC1... runs...

In Germany DSL is the only broadband connection the "normal household" can get and there is no broadband/DSL via cable... so broadband always means DSL over a "special" phone line that can not be used for anything else... it's realized by "splitting" the phone signal in different frequency...

In Germany broadband is not available that long, so what I meant was that many people who already switched to ISDN before broadband became available keep using ISDN because the "fix costs" of "ISDN without broadband" and "analog-broadband-combined" are almost the same, but the "costs per minute"...

Because of that I had to stop playing it without ever finishing the last mission... I can't remember the exact number of tries (with different ships including the shroud) but it were MANY In the meantime I totally stopped playing any kind of flight simulators... I even did not have any...

In fact there are A LOT of people in Germany who still use ISDN and even 56k modems... why? 1. Not all areas of Germany have the option to use broadband 2. If they use the internet just for email or they are just online for a few hours a month in which they don't download any big files, why...
