Wing Commander Movie - earlier script

Just finished reading the script and as someone who's currently studying directing, I wondered if there's anyone else here who thinks that this script would've made a pretty damn better movie than the one that was used for the final movie (probably due to budget limitations and some Fox suits talking into this stuff). Don't misunderstand me - I liked the movie. But I think it could've been a lot better if this script had been used (together with a proper budget, of course). I acutally think it's a pretty good script, even though it may still be far away from the game...

What do you guys think?

The dialouge is ropey, the opening scene a little much but things are more thuroughly explained and there's more humor to it.

As someone who's done directing and screenwriting, I'm pretty impressed by the amount of garbage sci-fi usually strings out, but this second draft is actually good. I also really appreciated the "Hundred and Five Years" tidbit by Taggart in the beginning of the film, as it adds a bit of humanity (no pun intended) to him.
