Wing Commander Fans Pound Pavement At DC2006 (September 2, 2006)

The annual DragonCon Parade was held again this morning in Atlanta, and Team CIC made their fourth appearance on the street. Thousands of convention attendees and local residents lined Peachtree Avenue to cheer all the marchers on. Thanks to everyone who encouraged us in the crowd. This year wasn't as sunny as usual, but the cooler weather was a nice change. Right after the parade, we met with the new head of Baen Books to express our interest in future Wing Commander novels. No new material is currently being written, but that could change if things like EA Replay are successful. We've been taking lots of pictures all week and will have the full photo galleries available soon. See you on the webcam.

Seems like the guys behind you had a lot more fun... - or was that a try at military ruggedness? Somehow I miss LOAF's Hobbes impersonation.

Hobbes will be back next year - I dug out the mask a week ago and found it had been ruined. I'll find a new cat mask and be back.

The people in back of us were Witchblade fans, which is weird because: there are Witchblade fans?

Witchblade knows Tomb Raider, that's all I know.

The Baen people were very positive. They said Wing Commander had done very well for them and that they'd be interested in it again if there were another game (and EA contacted them). We're going to put some people in touch with each other now.

I'm looking forward to seeing Hobbes again - I thinks it makes the group more recognizable for the people who only have a hazy notion about Wing Commander (Yeah, the game with the cats!)
- well maybe except for Larry Niven fans.

What the heck is Witchblade? No, don't tell me.

If you talk about getting people in touch with another, spare a moment to think about the German Privateer2-Novel guys. They're working hard to get the novel into an English version (I'm somewhat loosely attached to that), and would definitely be interested in getting in touch with someone.

That's great to hear. It would be great to continue the story lines put ahead by Andrew Keith and explore other avenues.
