Wing Commander End Run (?) Shots

Hey all, I was working hard to submit a little video on our Wing Commander fan film project for the CIC's birthday - but I'm afraid my 3d cockpit and 3d Concordia CIC are taking a little longer then expected but I do have some 3d story board pics to contribute I guess.

Our production is being filmed in Calgary Alberta Canada with a cast of around 35 - we use a DV cam and a green screen that gets pretty good results. I myself just finished university so I finally have some time and resources to try to play around.

I'm afraid I am not the best 3d modeller, but a friend from the US has volunteered to do our SFX once the filming is completed - basically my shots are just story board shots and test backgrounds to get the acts in the right places.

Just wanted to get in on the birthday action I guess! Happy birthday CIC!!

Rapier II off the Concordia opens fire on a Kilrathi fighter during the Second Battle of Ghorah Khar and the evacuation of the fleet carrier TCS Truman. Decieving Kilrathi forces using SWAC radar jamming Wing Commander Jeanette "Angel" Deveraux and co pilots Christopher Blair, Doomsday and Jason "Bear" Bonavesky allow the Truman to escape the jump point long enough to evacuate the ship and Kilrathi rebellion survivors prior to it's destruction. Ghorah Khar however falls to the Kilrathi after days of themonuclear bombardment.

The light carrier TCS Tarawa arrives to help evacaute crew from the Truman - Jason is promoted to Wing Commander, Doomsday transfered to Tarawa. TCS Intrepid escorts. Six months pass of round the clock training and convoy escort.

Battle of Vukar Tag - thanks to Tolwyn's strategy of a rolling torpedo barrage ahead of the bombers and fighters during the second attack wave, this Broadsword pilot, (Christopher Blair?) get's the opportunity to try to take down the ultimate target - a Kilrathi dreadnought.

Damaged by a bomber attack and with the loss of the Trafalgar - a Kilrathi dreadnought runs into AMG range of the Concordia and opens fire.

Thanks a lot. I'm still working on most of the scenes (Tarawa for instance doesn't have scoops yet, some ships don't have turrets (working on getting them rotating to focus on incoming shots) - and they really are just storyboard shots since we plan on getting some one with way more experience to do the shots.

I notice at work that I made the pictures a little too dark - must have had my brightness turned way up at home. : ( Sorry about that.

Hmm, right now I am working on the opening TCS Concordia CIC shot looking out over the flight deck (and a smaller version will be the inital bridge for Tarawa) - I don't suppose anyone has any useful pics or anything for ideas?

I'm also trying to get some working cockpits going so I can post some of the video shots.
 
I'll try to get some shots up quick - I actually did a "Wrecked Commander" video a while ago - for a green screen we simply used a blanket which didn't really have a high quality effect = )

Now I actually bought special green screen paper and made a stand for it - so far so good - just need to get my test backgrounds done... I'm trying to make a cool CIC that is actually in the style of the WC Movie (one of the few things I think they got right and matched the games)
 
Good job Tarawa! I've done a WC fan film myself a while back and I know how hard this work can be. (Ours didn't really come out great and was never finished...)

Will you post some pics of your actors? Really want to see those...
 
Dreamer, I'd like to see what your movie was...

Tarawa, what program are you using for your 3d animation portions? Also, what program you using for your blue screen work, After Effects? Premiere?

Really, it can't be any worse then "Wrecked Commander" = )

For the "preliminary" 3d effects, I am using 3d studio max which we have a copy of where I work - these shots will later goto Stephen Withers in the US who is using Lightwave who will redo all the shots.

I'll put up some of the actor/actress shots - just finishing the Combat Info Centre model and trying to get these cockpit shots to come out right.

I don't suppose anyone has any WC2 screenshots of the cockpit displays?

Oh, for green screening we are using After Effects and Premiere which I bought on the last day of University with some extra cash - and I bought a copy of DV Key on the net.

This will come in extremely useful, you have given me basically every shot I was hoping to produce - I'll try to get something even this weekend thanks to these babies...

I'm eager to see what you may produce.
