Wing Commander 2 on Iphone (YT-Video)

Interesting indeed. WC2 is much more playable. Had it crash on 2nd Mission but that should be fixed with loadfix -16 i think. Now if i could get the accelerometer to work in DOSpad it would be truly awesome.
I wonder if it would be possible to release it like that via the appstore, i did just read that Cinemaware did just that with Defender of the Crown (only that it was an Amiga emulated version). I wonder if what ever deal GOG has with EA would allow them to also sell it iOS users. That would not only get them much more money but help to improve the iOS version of Dosbox and get EA to see Wing Commander still has potential (and in the end we get a new Wing Commander and everyone is as happy as can be).

I was of the impression that anything involving DOS emulation was a non-starter for iOS devices as far as Apple was concerned?

For a while, all interpreters / emulators were banned from the iTunes App Store. This meant no Flash, no Java, no .NET, etc. Curiously, Flight of the Amazon Queen (which used ScummVM) was accepted in 2009. This policy changed in 2010, with restrictions. See this document about Flash, for example:

Back to DOSBox, there's another possible problem: it was released under the GNU General Public License. According to the Free Software Foundation, releasing anything under iTunes App Store DRM violates the GPL:

Apple would let you release an app containing DOSBox and a DOS game. However, anyone who contributed to DOSBox (including any GPL libraries it uses) could file a complaint, taking the app down. This is fair - people contributed to DOSBox with the expectation that their work would be shared. Discussion about the iOS port of Battle of Wesnoth was spirited, although it has remained on the App Store so far:

That sadly seems to be a complex issue. I was kinda sad that i had to Jailbreak my iPhone again so i could use free software. I would be happy if it would be for free in the Appstore (there was kind of the same problem with vlc i think). So either there would have to be made some deal that a % from every sale using Dosbox goes to some fund or someone needs to build a Dos emulator for iOS from scratch. Its on days like these when i deeply regret that i never learned to code...
