Welcome back to another session of "Tye Asks A Bunch of Odd Questions." Lets get right back in to it.

Though it's not listed in the ship listings (and therefore I'm sure the answer is no, but I ask JUST in case), was there ever a TCS New Orleans? Oh wait, the song just ended. Was there a TCS Rooster? And a side note on that, when you revamp the Ships Database, it might be incredibly helpful if someone listed all known ship names for each class, sort of as a fast reference, you know?

WC3, Caernaven class, rated at 180 kps max. I'm guessing that's the scoops closed config, but that doesn't matter. The Caernaven is longer and has nearly 10,000 more tonnes than the Tallahassee, yet is faster. Acceleration is the same. Is this just a case of the Caer having better engines, bigger powerplant, or is there something more sinister involved here? When were each of thise comissioned, and when were they known to be in regular service (as in, many of them out and about)?

Which came first (in reality dates), the Behemoth or Darksaber?

Knowing that most BW ships were thrown together from spares, salvage, etc., what do we know about Verier Underground other than that they manufactured the Banshee? Did they actually manufacture them, or just design it? Did they manufacture/design anything else? Any idea when all that began?

Just how many variations on the Dralthi WERE there, and how dare they not put it in WC2?

How early were they working on the Midway? As in, when did the first inklings of the design come about? Same question for the Cerberus/Hades class.

Since I haven't read all the books, are there any ship designs that they built prototypes for, or began to work on (other than the Behemoth I guess), that once built or designed was decided to be a crappy idea, or otherwise just wouldn't work/be feasible and were then scrapped?

Just how DID video kill the radio star? And yes, I have Winamp open and my playlist is alphabatetical.

Curiosity note, knowing LOAF had much contact with the various Origin people (and that many others of you have as well), do we know if any of the people that've ever worked on WC have told us their favorite ships?

Which of the following classes do you people thing would be best when made into a stress ball - foam squeezie kinda thing: Ranger, Confederation, Ferret, Dralthi, Arrow, Priv Style Drayman? Or write in a ship suggestion.

For any of the capital ships, do we have data on the brand of any of the parts? You know, airplanes that have Rolls Royce engines or whatever, do we have engine brands, stuff like that? Specifically I'm looking for WC3 stuff, Ranger, Caer, Tallahassee, etc. Don't need the fighters.

Did Perry have any kind of armaments, or did it rely on the fleets?

Why were the powerpuff girls "born" with clothes on?

Who played Dekker, and if he and Hobbes had ever gotten into a fight, who'd win (hand to paw)?

I think that's all for now. Thanks.

I have a few, semi-serious answers for ya:

There should be a TCS Rooster! :)

Uh, the Behemoth came first (Darksaber was published in 1995, a year or two after WC3).

I think there were 4 variations of the Dralthi.

As for scrapped ship ideas, there was the Omega, but I'm not all that clear on that particular ship.

Just how DID video kill the radio star?
That is a good question, one I've been asking all my life.

Big Powerpuff Girls fan?

Jeremy Roberts, I believe, played Dekker, and, IMHO, he'd kick Hobbes' ass. Looks kinda hard to fight with those big feet anyway. ;)

Personally, I believe the documentation to be in error with regard to the length/mass of these vessels. In the game, the Caernaven-class vessels appear smaller than the Tallahasee-class ships, which (using the Ajax as a guide) in turn seem to be about the same size as the 720 meter Victory herself.

This would make sense, since frigates are -- in real life -- indeed smaller than cruisers (though usually slightly larger than destroyers).

Wouldn't be the first instance of foul-ups in WC documentation....

I had always thought in my own little universe that the Drakhri was like a "Next Generation" Dralthi. I figured they had Dralthi's running around, but wanted something that was less expensive or some such. So they created the Drakhri. Then I guess it turned out to be disfavored by pilots so they reverted back to improving upon the Dralthi.

Ah, two I can answer!

Rock stars were sometimes chosen on the basis of their voice, not their looks. An ugly star, no one wants to see. A beautiful singer, well, people might prefer it (Britney Spears) Therefore, when music videos came out, an ugly person with a fantastic voice was something nobody wanted to see...

Hobbes. He'd take Dekker apart...unless Dekker had some sort of powered armor, to make all else even. If all else was even Dekker, since he's a hand to hand specialist. Then again, Hobbes has the claws...

plus Hobbes would spend several years being Dekker's friend then come up behind him and stab him in the back :)

:p
The Dekker-question can hardly be answered. We know what a Kilrathi can do, but we also heard that Marines learn to kill a Kilrathi just with their hands. Kilrathi stays Kilrathi, but I'd say Dekkarw ould win. I could imagine Marines know where to handle a Kilrathi that after one/ or some hits hit, the K. lies death on the floor. It can't be definitely said. Whom drops faster and better. Hobbes with the claws or Dekker. We have different opinions...:)

Dekker took out Maniac, but he's a big wuss, I think it would take a little more than a few hits to take down a Kat...

The Gothri. I HATE Gothri. I enjoy crushing them... [Insert maniacal laughter].

No wait. Fralthra. The only kat ship that can consistently kick my ass. Prepare to be crushed with impunity Fralthra! [Insert more maniacal laughter].

You mean like the ships list <G>? Except slower? And no, no New Orleans, no Rooster.

No, scoops *open* -- scoops *closed* is much, much faster for all ships.

The difference between frigates and cruisers in Wing Commander is that frigates are essentially large, armored transports (with military grade engines). A frigate may be larger and faster, but that's because it doesn't use energy for any sort of broadside -- no AMGs and such.

There were probably thousands of them around.

Which came first (in reality dates), the Behemoth or Darksaber?

Behemoth, 1994 versus Darksaber, 1996.

Knowing that most BW ships were thrown together from spares, salvage, etc., what do we know about Verier Underground other than that they manufactured the Banshee? Did they actually manufacture them, or just design it? Did they manufacture/design anything else? Any idea when all that began?

It's the only thing we know they build -- and they do actually manufacture them (or convert them from old patrol craft...).

Just how many variations on the Dralthi WERE there, and how dare they not put it in WC2?

The highest numbered variant is seven, but there are multiple minor changes to the line.

WC2 was made before they let idiots play WC, so you didn't have people screaming about how you had to have a Dralthi in every game.

How early were they working on the Midway? As in, when did the first inklings of the design come about? Same question for the Cerberus/Hades class.

Development of Cerberus began in 2670... development of Midway began in 2676.

Current speculation is that we have more than one Behemoth.

But no, WC is more realistic than... some series' -- combat pilots wouldn't be seen flying prototypes like that.

Curiosity note, knowing LOAF had much contact with the various Origin people (and that many others of you have as well), do we know if any of the people that've ever worked on WC have told us their favorite ships?

I'll bet Sean Murphy likes the Murphy.

Which of the following classes do you people thing would be best when made into a stress ball - foam squeezie kinda thing: Ranger, Confederation, Ferret, Dralthi, Arrow, Priv Style Drayman? Or write in a ship suggestion.

Steltek Drone.

I can probably name the engines of a dozen different ship classes -- but not for the WC3 stuff.

Did Perry have any kind of armaments, or did it rely on the fleets?

It was armed.

Why were the powerpuff girls "born" with clothes on?

Were they?

In the first mission of WC4 you see an Avenger destroying whatsitcalled base. Was that Avenger stolen and therefore not listed under Pirates in the ships section, or did the Black Lance use it and it just wasn't listed there because it was uncommon in the games?

Err... Seether was flying it, so it was a Project Avenger. Since the Avenger is converted from a shuttle, it's probably not *stolen*...

There's a strong indication that all of the 'pirates' (and certainly those at Hellespont, at least) are either project forces or being sponsored by the project.

Who played Dekker, and if he and Hobbes had ever gotten into a fight, who'd win (hand to paw)?

Dekker, as he's a marine who's trained to fight Kilrathi hand to hand... whereas Hobbes is a capital ship commander.

ME LIKE DRAYMAN!!!!! :D
(man...)

BTW, why is the Caern larger than the 'Hassee on the Ship Comparison Chart? I understand cruisers are Confed's larges surface combatants...

Because there's an English way and an American way. Depends on what language you speak, there is no 'right' or 'wrong'.

Still, Hobbes tells Blair that they are taught to learn how to use their claws to kill virtually from birth.

I used to watch the PPG! :) That and Dexter's Lab.

But I think this has just religious reasons because of the carnivore instincts and certainly traditions of the Kilrathi, not part of a "marine-training".
