Who was Lt. Jack Slayton? (SO Question)

well it least the Tiger's Claw seems to be invincible in attacks :)

(at least, every time I've played it)

yeah its a tough shell to break, although since it never shoots back, *NEVER* shoots back, you can fry it in a hornet, being a sick individual as i am i did it many times :) no red dots either! :D

I can't believe you blew up Angel! She was the hottest chick on the Tiger's Claw! :)

Unless, of course, Angel was on your wing... then you could just take her with you to some backwater planet and "live happily ever after" :)

I did it with a raptor loads of times im the gimle (gimble?) system, fear not, i shant hurt a woman :) although I would like something better then polygons :)

hey, at least if you ever get mad at her you can merely delete the ones on her mouth :)

maybe it'l be better if you try to pickup some chick at six flags rather then spent hours on programing angel :)

To me it makes sence to have less pilots then fighters cause what are you gonna do if a few of them eject? sure, they live on but the ship is gone, if you have 250+ pilots, thats alot of skill wasted on a scramble if they wouldn't have enough ships.

But if you have fewer pilots then ships then its a lot of ships wasted on a scramble ... and a 30m, 20tonne fighter takes up a lot more of the limited room on a ship than a 1.8m, 75kg fighter pilot. In an emergency or alpha strike, you want the ship bare - every fighter airborne, not rotting in the hold.

Plus, a pilot doesn't spend 24hours a day, 7 days a week in the cockpit, so a single fighter could be shared between pilots. Sure, a carrier might carry a spare or two, to account for damage, pilots surviving ejection etc., but you wouldn't count on it when outfitting a ship for duty.

thats where the night/day shift comes in play

Edit:Maybe loaf will make me feel dumb when he reads this. lol

Midway was cut off from the supply lines -- but that *isn't* the norm... fighters can be replaced quickly (hell, that's one of the reason Escort Carriers exist...).

On average, there will always be some pilots asleep -- except when it's absolutely necessary to scramble the entire fighter wing. There's no point to having 252 fighters when you leave half of them sitting on the flight deck...

I played once and got so many of the Black Widows killed the game booted me out saying something about minimum number of pilots reached (or some such thing).
I did that too, when I cheat-killed as many wingmen as possible after every mission, just to see what might happen. Then I got told that no one would fly on my wing. Then I said I was just experimenting. Then I got told that sounds like something Maniac would say. :)
