I noticed you guys are comparing energy output in WC guns to technology in current/old firearms. There is a difference. The main feature in the advancement of firearms technology is to get more firepower to the individual. For example, the the Garand compared to the Mauser K98 has more firepower because it can put out more bullets faster. Also, a civil war rifle has less firepower than a modern pistol because the pistol holds more shots. In terms of WC guns, the laser is less powerful than the tachyon because of energy output. This is the equivalence of a .22 target rifle compared to a .50 sniper rifle. The .50 has more power, but not necessarily a faster firing rate.
