who is the worst comm officer ?????

I noticed you guys are comparing energy output in WC guns to technology in current/old firearms. There is a difference. The main feature in the advancement of firearms technology is to get more firepower to the individual. For example, the the Garand compared to the Mauser K98 has more firepower because it can put out more bullets faster. Also, a civil war rifle has less firepower than a modern pistol because the pistol holds more shots. In terms of WC guns, the laser is less powerful than the tachyon because of energy output. This is the equivalence of a .22 target rifle compared to a .50 sniper rifle. The .50 has more power, but not necessarily a faster firing rate.

Well those Dralthi are using those guns and they are quite efective...
Besides laser is not the main weapon on fighters, only the Tigershark and the Piranha are using that weapon, but is rate of fire and low power drain make the old laser a weapon that even with our power banks almost empty keeps on firing.

We've pretty much been using current/past firearms as a crutch to more easily explain things, not as a direct comparison.

One of my favorite little points to demonstrate that the line between good and evil in war is not as clearly defined as revisionist historians like to make it is that in 1945 Winston Churchil ordered a bombing raid on berlin with the bombers carring bombs filled with poison gas (chlorine gas specifically). This violated the geneva convention that his country had signed. After most of the bombers were in the air he canceled the raid after realizing that it would be wrong to commit such a horrid attrocity against a civilian population. Just pointing this out because if he had gone through with the raid, the estimated german casulties would have numbered in the 2-3 million range and that would have greatly unballanced the gun being the weapon that casued the most deaths.
Winston Churchill also used chemical weapons against the Kurds in Iraq back in the 1920s - many in the British Cabinet opposed this, but he decided that he couldn't "understand this sqeamishness about the use of gas." [That, apparently, is a direct quote] Thus, I'm sure his cancellation of this order had nothing to do with it being wrong. More likely, he was simply concerned about what the Americans would say.

He was the colonial secretary back then. Churchill fulfilled many governmental roles prior to becoming the PM.

In WCP the laser is the primary anti fighter weapon on cap ships in its turreted form. It is also used as a fighter weapon in the Tigershark and Piranah and is used as a secondary weapon on the Shrike and Devestator (in their turrets) as such TC it is not out dated and the entire laser argument is that even in wc1 there were better guns available in fact the laser was the least powerful gun yet it is still in use in '81 in several important roles as I have argued. It also is considerable, on the order of 10's of times more powerful than the laser in WC1 thus it proves that a type of weapon can have it's firepower increased and thus the same could be said of the PTC which was the basis for the discusion

But you can't say that one type of weapon will be improvable because another one is (and the lasers are pretty useless. They do little to no damage and are mostly there for show in the game.)
