Hi everyone. I was visiting the site for a while, and I came back after seeing the EA Retro notice about releasing WC and WC SO for the PSP.

I want to play the game on an emulator (I have them on the PC, but I want to emulate on the TV via my xbox)

The question is what it is the best version ? I looked on mobygames, and I´ve found screenshtos from Amiga, SNES and Sega CD Versions. Which one recommends you all ?

Thanks in advance

I'm not entirely sure what you want to do -- having the PC version doesn't give you the SNES port. The controller would also be very awkward...if you want to play WC on your TV, your best bet is to get a classic game system or a TV-out card.

As for which non-PC version is best, you have more than three options: there have been ports of Wing Commander I for the SNES, SegaCD, 3DO, Macintosh, Amiga, CD32 and now the PSP. They all have various high and low points -- the Sega CD version, for instance, has full speech... and the 3DO and Mac versions redo all the graphics.

I tried the SNES version. The graphics are so so, and the music is so "nintendo". I´ll continue trying another versions

The Amiga SWC is the best one because of the unique look and feel. Sure you get some extra movies on the Playstation, but it's not the same.

None of what you just said makes sense. The Amiga version is a 24-color port of the original game, it's only "unique" look is the spinning graphics of the four Kilrathi ships in the 'sim.

... and there's no Playstation version of WC1.

To answer the original question, the versions with the graphics most like the PC version of WC1 are the SegaCD, CD32 and FM Towns versions. They all use the same graphics as the original, with the 256 color palette.

For me, the most "interesting" version is the 3DO, as the visuals are in a very different style from the rest - but that doesn't make it necessarily better.

For other versions, it's very much a matter of taste and habit, depending on your definition of "better". Do you like a certain controller; do you focus on visuals, do you want to have maximal channels for sound and score, do you want to have the best quality in cutscenes - and so on.

Well, thanks for the answers again. I'll try to look for the sega cd version, too bad it has no subs for me, but it doesn't matter
