When Did You Joins Us? (August 11, 2005)

It's been a few years since we did a poll about when CIC visitors began frequenting the site. There were quite a few new additions to the community back then, and we continue to grow. Some of our readers might even remember when ace, LOAF and I worked on the Wing Commander Home Sector for a couple years before the CIC opened.

What would be the biggest motivation to attend a Wing Commander fan meet-up?

Enough Money To Travel: 30.97%

Scheduling Free Time: 6.77%

Meeting Fellow Fans: 5.81%

Multiplayer Tournament: 5.40%

Meeting Live Actors: 7.02%

New Game Announcement: 44.03%

Total Votes: 1240

It looks like most people thought that having a new game announcement would get them to come to a Wing Commander fan gathering. The next biggest factor was money. Hopefully the financial situation of our fellow fans will improve in the next few years and more people can get together at our annual meeting at DragonCon. A new game would be great, but playing Armada, Prophecy Advance and the Customizable Card Game with other fans is pretty neat too.

That's me! I would visit there and Dans movie page when rumors were floating around about a WC movie being made. I actually started posting because I couldn't figure out how to switch nav points my second time through prophecy.
I was there when the CIC went live and I downloaded the Full SO on dial-up. (I still have it all on zip disks somewhere... I need to move it to CD!)

I was gone for a bit and had to reregister in 2001 for the forums. I even still remember the password I was given for the CIC's original "red" forums: Twbcck

I joined sometime in April I think, when I discovered PR. Man, if that was always on the vegastrike forum (which I think is the best place for it) I would never have found this hive of interesting people. It would be really cool to go to WC fan meet up, but living in the UK in full time education means that is impossible. Nevermind, maybe in a few years time.

I found the site back in the Home Sector days around 1996/1997 and would check it out a couple of times a week while browsing the internet. From late 1997 when pre-production on the movie began, I used to check-in on the site and Dan's movie page everyday for new info.

This continued through to about 2002 and I would occasionally browse some of the forum threads, although I didn't register and contribute. From about 2003 I started reading the forums much more regularly and towards the end of 2004 I finally registered. Next stop #Wingnut!

The CIC has to be one of the most comprehensive and unique game resources out there -- a great community run by fans for the fans. Keep up the sterling work guys!

Cheers,

BrynS

I've been a WC fan since 1992 (when played WC1 on my 286 -It spanned over 3 3.5'' HD disks, so it had to be a GREAT game- and decided Elite Plus wasn´t actually the best game ever made) but had known nothing about WC after Prophecy!!

I found this place some months ago and found myself overwhelmed by the GREAT amount of fans still ongoing (thought I was the only one prefering WC1 better than X-Wing) and all these fanmade projects, addons and patches!!

It's taken quite a long time to realise

1) My dusty old WC diskettes could be still working
2) All the WC hours enjoy awating to be experienced thanx to the involved community

And it is great to find that, as soon as I have registered and posted only a couple of config/installment problems, CIC's people has helped me in LESS THAN 24h with the only reward of helping a WC mate.

Yes, I am one of the newest, but be sure I will be logging in for a VERY long time!!

I've been floating around in WC internet stuff since 95-6, but I probably found the CIC around the agwc times.
