I misunderstood him. I thought he said that he didn't really like the movie, but he bought it anyway because he was a WC fan. THAT IS STUPID in my opinion.

I still disagree -- if my thirteen bucks can tell Electronic Arts that there's still an interest in Wing Commander, then it's thirteen bucks well spent... even if I don't want to watch the movie.

Maybe if it doesn't sell too well, somebody will get it through their heads that it wasn't a good product and their next product in return will be better.

The movie works, if you imagine that it is set in a minor universe (that could account for the differences)

Don't go into that "Alternate Universe" thing, man. It's the death of many a poster. For your sake, hush.

Well... maybe if you people who refuse to accept that it obviously doesn't connect with the games would just leave us guys who think it makes more sense with alternate universes alone, then it'd be fine and no newbie poster deaths would occur![]()

Actually, what I meant was that if when someone who thought they were alternate universes weren't shot down and flamed so bad everytime they posted about it, maybe it wouldn't be "the death" of posters.

Those of us who believe in canon are trying to generate a consistent storyline for WC. It allows us to contribute to WC lore and is fun besides. In short, it’s an art form. But I have no idea what those who refer to “alternate universes” are going on about or are trying to accomplish. What’s the point? Positing alternate realities does nothing to advance WC. It appears to be only window-dressing for the claim that the WC storyline can never be reconciled, and so is in fact a criticism of the rest of us who believe otherwise. One would think that after all this time, when LOAF and so many others have successfully ironed out–or at the very least have come up with some imaginative explanations for–any number of seeming inconsistencies, you’d have more respect for the effort.
