Weird things

Here is a list of wierd things in the WC series that i have found and/or read about on this forum:

The Vesuvius ships can turn about 10000000000 times faster than a fighter

The fighters are shown to be pretty small compared to most carriers, but when launched are retty big.

How do they old all those banshees in that little carrier?

Why do the ships look so big compared to planets?

At the end of WC3 credits, Maniac says "Isn't that the guy from Star Wars?"

In SWC, Blairs last name is "Armstrong"

The dead guy thing.

Definitly weird

I dont know if it turns faster than a fighter, but man! Trying to shoot its turrets off sucked!

The size thing makes sense but ingame stuff is just the way they designed it.

They squeeze em in REAL tight

Thats just looking at the planet from WAAAAAAAY off.

Well its Mark Hamil.

In the Sega Cd version of WC1 it was all voiced over and the callsign was Hotshot!

What dead guy thing?

That's always in the movies. Did you see those pakthans by the behemoth, and the the vesuvius chase the intrepid ?

In every game the proportions aren't right.

It was a scale model of the intrepid, and those banshees were radio controlled... lol

The look so big, because you are so far away fromm them.

That was a blooper.

Blair then wasn't the official name for the caracter. That's why his name is Armstrong, but his callsign still is Maverick.

WHAT DEAD GUY ? In every WC game there dies someone...

I doubt that they'd shoot every cutscene with every possible combination of pilots to account for those that have died, though I see why that'd seem strange.

One time I lost Jazz Colson in the second expansion for WC1 and he no longer appeared in the lounge anymore. Then near the end there he was with Doomsday talking about how they were transfering back to the Austin and spliting ways.
Its crazy sometimes.

Lots of things can happen like that but hey, you are not supposed to loose any wingmen, actually the only wingman I remeber that you must loose ingame is Shadow in the opening missions of WCII

Well we were flying those stupid dralthi and he never would listen and go back to the Claw. And there we are in the ONE fighter the Kilrathi have without an ejector seat. It happens and anyone who says other wise is a filthy liar! :)

Before WC Prophecy, the games didn't try to render everything in scale with everything else.

Again, the objects in the game weren't in scale. Also, presumably like with today's carriers, while a lot of the craft are kept in storage until needed, some craft are spotted on the flight deck, in order to make the most use of available space.

Why do the ships look so big compared to planets?

Again, scale issues with the game engines.

At the end of WC3 credits, Maniac says "Isn't that the guy from Star Wars?"

An outtake from the filming. There were more that were included on the Making of WC3 disc that came with the official strategy guide for the game. IIRC at least some of them are available for download from the CIC's file section, though it's been a while since I looked last.

In SWC, Blairs last name is "Armstrong"

At the time, "Blair" hadn't been chosen as the player's character name. Though a "Blair" is mentioned in the novel Freedom Flight, it's not entirely clear whether that's referring to the character's player.

The dead guy thing.

It's a war, and people tend to die in wars. Also, except for the plot deaths, in WC2 everyone ejects. :)

Talk about weird things, missions where you have to chase down certian enemy craft in a group and keep them from escaping. Like in WCPSO, you are in a bomber, the slowest moving brick in space going after mantas with 3 times your max afterburn speed! Boy I hope that missle catches up! :)

RFBurns

"There is no challenge in killing you!" [Black Lance, WCIV]

Taunt them (always works), go head to head (in a devastor this is the best tactic), when i range fire your plasma and you have "one more for the killboard"

I tried the taunt, they seemed to ignore me! :( I guess I should have used the translator to convert to the bug's buzz talk.

RFBurns

"Now is your time to die!" [Bugs, WCP/SO]

There is no translator option, and I too noticed the Blair reference in FF and I personally choose to say that it is ol'Bluehair (though on my montior it was always closer to black than blue)

The translator thing isnt not to be taken litteraly, just a little joke. But I wonder what kind of translation the bugs would get if you imitated their sound? Bet that bug would be bugged! :D

RFBurns

"Bugs, bugs and more bugs, bring on the bugs!"

"Squish!" [Zero, WCP]
"Didnt expect that, did ya bug?" [Stilletto, WCP]

Let's see, if you spoke the Bug Language through the translater... what would you hear then ?

Bet the bug trnaslator would crash or something (Bugdows 98)
