WCpedia question

Lt.Overload

Rear Admiral
I've looked at some recent ship articles and noticed you've been using low quality pictures for the ships. My question is, why not use the epically sweet quality high-res versions seen here and here?

We discussed that, but ultimately, we decided it was best to stick with the images from the Ships Database and such. They are more appropriate considering these are in-game images.

The images you are referring to can be used as galleries for each ship, but not as the main image. That's what we agreed upon at the WCPedia.

Switching to "other images" would require at least the level of Howard day's work... And you can't jusk ask him to do all the ships....

I don't remember when (or why?) we agreed not to use those images for infoboxes? If we did can you show me where?

I'd prefer to use hi res shots. They are quite nice to look at. If you guys would like to replace them feel encouraged.

It was three days ago or so, Dund. I said we could use Captain Johnny's images, and these are the images Lt. Overload is referring to. You said you'd prefer not to. (It was while we were discussing the Excalibur's main image, since that really did look like crap).

But if you want to use Captain Johnny's images instead, I'm all for that! But I need your approval first.

I see the conversation on the excalibur discussion page. I was talking about using the Excalibur WC3 image in that case for the infobox and in that case because there is no hi res image for the excal in WC3 colors so an older shot would need to be used. That wasn't a carte blanche statement saying don't use them in any article. By all means input them in the other WC4 ship articles.

So shall I replace all main images with the hi res shots Captain Johnny dug up and put the current ones in galleries or something? Call me slow, but I'm just making sure I don't slip up later.

The only article I was saying not to do it on was the Excalibur for that infobox. For all other WC4 ships, by all means use the hi res shots.

I would think you use them when available, and go with in-game shots when they're not. As these are Origin-made images, I'd be more inclined to use these than any (however well done) fan art as primary graphics for the wiki. I think in-game shots are also great for accenting the page or being included in a gallery.
