Does anyone know if a person will or is taking the movies off the WC4 DVD for people who own the CD version of the game. Someone did this for WC Prophecy and the game play is much better with the DVD movies inbetween missions. Thanks for any information.

The highres prophecy footage was never officially released in any form. A prophecy DVD was produced and never shipped. THis isn't the case with the WC4 DVD, so while it's a possible project, it's unlikely to be made available.

There's one small problem with that: there's a lot more movies in WC4 than there are in Prophecy.

Besides, considering it's not that difficult to pick up a DVD version on ebay or whatnot (compared to the WCP DVD not being available anywhere, since it was never released), and there's the option to play it without the DXr card courtesy of Gulikoza's patch thingy, there's not exactly a whole lot of incentive for someone to take the time to rig up something similar to how the WCP DVD movie packs are handled.

A big reason that the WCP DVD project came together as well as it did was that HCl had already spent considerable time hacking apart the Prophecy engine in order to integrate cutscenes into stuff like Standoff. The WCP DVD patch is based on that research. As far as I know, someone would have to pretty much start from scratch to figure out how to upgrade WC4 in this manner.

Yeah... and it's something of a moral question, too -- Wing Commander Prophecy DVD was cancelled and never released... Wing Commander IV DVD was available for purchase. It doesn't necessarily seem like it would be our place to give it away (without permission - we could certainly try to get that from EA if a patch were ever developed...).
