WC3 screenshots

Thanks again. Stick with the cinema shots, the PC seems to do better on the inflight engine.

Looks like you've been gambling while taking screenshots. :)

Yeah, it's a bit of a gamble to get the screens just how I want them. Like if there's a quick cut to one scene and then to another, it's hard to catch.

Which one? I use Connectix Virtual Game System, and cheat by going to the homepage which loads up the web (sine you can't leave it and check emails and such otherwise) and use the Fibdev screenshooter, using the option to take a snap in five seconds which gives me time to get back to the game. But it won't play The Price of Freedom, or some other games, and it won't work with multi CD games, as it just dies when you swap discs.

Go to the off topic zone. I just added a pic (and three links to pics). The thread is called "Lightning in Bottles".

And so nice of you to ask permission to use my pics and wit. Nah, just kidding. You can use them. I can just see Angel saying 'shut the fuck up, shit for brains', especially in the movie. Will have to come up with some myself.

I think I used Connectix Virtual Game System, I had two installed on my machine, I can't remember the other one though

Now, I need the following:

A picture of thrakhath, talking (preferably looking angry)

A picture of blair, looking contemplative

A picture of tolwyn at his desk

A picture of Maniac . . . I suppose it would be of him saying something sarcastic.

Keep up the good work!

I think I might have a couple of those. I'll go through and put the pics up every now and then. Did you see the ones I'd done up in the Lightning in a Bottle thread, by the way?

Yeah. Calling someone Zach Colson has to hurt. And the statement on the other was kinda funny.

The scene in the intro where he thinks about the "Doomsday" plan!

BTW, Phil, how much compression are you using on the JPEGs? The pictures do seem to be quite low quality.

Heh heh. You know my feelings towards Colson by now.

What resolution are the pics? I think, without playing around with the pics, the screenshooter programe takes the screenshots at 640x480 resolution. The cinimas themselves play in a widescreen format, say 320x600, which may explain why they seem low quality.

Keep 'em comin'. I'm not at my own computer right now, but I will be in the morning, and I've already got an idea for that pic of Theodore.

And, for the 'comtemplative' pic of blair, I want something that looks like he's being confronted by a superior and making a choice. Possibly. Whatever you can do, y'know.

That would be 'narrow-view' format. ;)

Actually, it just seemed to me that there's a lot of loss on the JPEG compression compared with the original screenshot you made on your computer. Or does the program automatically save straight to JPEG?

I'll just check...it automatically selects Bitmap when you want to save, but can select Bitmap, Metafile or JPEG. I select JPEG because the file size is resonable, not like the 1MB Bitmap ones.

Yeah, well, when I take screenshote I prefer to manipulate them (eg chop off those black bars) and what-not, before saving them in a compressed format. No wonder you were leaving bits of your workspace in the pictures.

[I wasn't complaining, BTW.]
