WC1 Secret Missions

I have been playing through the Wing Commanders in chronlogical order, and I am up to Secret Missions 2. I know it is just an expansion pack to the original WC, but I could swear that the graphics are more crisp and detailed. In the first mission where you take on the Dralthi Mk 2's, they look a lot more recognizable. Is there any truth to this?
 
Nope, they're the same graphics... the same files, even. The addon just references the files that were included in the original game, it doesn't create new ones.

The "original" graphics in the addon (Jazz, Doomsday, Dralthi cockpit) may look 'newer' because they were done a year or so later (and by different artists)... though there's no actual change in resolution.
 
Whew....I had forgotten how much harder the Drakhai are than the normal pilots. It is like facing a bunch of ace pilots at the same time.
 
Well, they are pissing me off. Iceman keeps getting dusted, even though he is supposed to be the best pilot on the Tiger's Claw. I try to order him back to base, but he is "Unable to comply." I feel like shooting him myself. ;)
 
I have to admit that I prefer sm1 to sm2, I just liked the whole feel of it more rather than the whole fighting retreat thing in sm2
 
But think about how those Drakhai must feel having to go up against not only an ace pilot, but an ace pilot with a replay-mission button.
 
When you are figthing them, you must remeber that "YOU CANNOT DEFEAT THE DRAKHAI!!!" sorry, I just had to say that.:D Seriously though, the drakhai pilots are a bit annoying since they require some persistence to destroy and not lose your wingman as well.
 
God, I hated the Wing Commander 2 speech pack. It was so obvious that the development team lended their voices rather than finding some quality talent to provide voices.
 
Oh, Wing Commander 2 was awesome when it came out, and I did play it in 1991. I did not have a sound card when I first played it, so I never actually heard the voice work. By the time I heard the speech ack for WC2, I had already played through WC3.
