WC Concert

I've been thinking about some imagination I had before.

What would it be like, going to a concert with the orchestra playing Wing Commander songs?
If there's anything I like to see, it's that.

Imagine... some orchestra playing Wing Commander Overture from the movie or any of the games songs (like a medley of scramble and one of the inflight movies)...

I'm just bored listening to the mp3's or midis. I'd really like to see an orchestra play Wing Commander.

Several orchestra have played several themes from Star Trek and Star Wars. Why not play Wing Commander, which definitely one of the best space opera music we can think of?

:)

They're not exactly new. I recall Delance bringing them up in #wingnut, probably over a year ago.

#wingnut, September 23, 2000, Around 8PM Eastern...

[01:58] <Delance> BTW LOAF and Hadrian... I recently aquired some unusual WC MP3s from Napster. They are of WC3 and WC4 cutscenes, but withou the sound! Just the music, clean! Quite amazing... Do you know who did them?
[01:59] <LOAF> I'm not sure.
[01:59] <Delance> Do you have some of them?
[02:01] <Delance> They're pretty good, but a rare catch... The WCIV are numbered apparently 1-6 but I only have 2.
[02:02] <LOAF> I have some WC soundtrack discs from Oldziey, but no mp3s.
[02:02] <Delance> But do the MP3s and the Soundtack discs match? Then at least we would know the source

[02:03] <MadDog243> heya
[02:03] <LOAF> Howdy
[02:03] <LOAF> I don't know, I don't have your mp3s:)
[02:03] <MadDog243> brb, ack
[02:03] <Delance> Do you want the MP3s?
[02:04] <LOAF> I had that problem this morning, MD... but he left.
[02:04] <LOAF> No thanks, I have an ace-1 CD I'm listening to.
[02:04] <Delance> It was not so much for hearing, but for comparing, but OK
[02:05] <Delance> I'll keep searching for the rest of the stuff, but apparently only those 2 are shared in napster...
[02:06] <Delance> there's also a "Super Wing Commander 3DO - Medley.mp3"
[02:06] <KrisV> Or he doesn't have the others...
[02:06] <LOAF> Hmm, I have that.
[02:06] <LOAF> I made mp3s for Had, I bet these are them.
[02:06] *** Quits: MadDog243 (~maddog243@local75-156.campus.pr.erau.edu) (Ping timeout)
[02:07] <Delance> one of them is Wing Commander IV - The Price of Freedom) - 01 - Main Title, Space Ambush and Combat .mp3
[02:07] <Delance> Man, if you have more, please send them in.. They are very very good
[02:07] <KrisV> I'm downloading 6) Death of Tolwyn from some guy

hee hee

None of this would've come up unless I found those damned WC IV MP3s kickin around.

That's me being egotistical...hee hee...

Anywho, Fraix on this board mentioned a live orchestral version of the WC music? I'd like to point out that David Arnold, who composed the Overture and the 4 major themes from the WC Movie is trying to get a "live" CD out of his work...something like "The Best of David Arnold".

Just so you know...

Yeah... we really should do.

Me: Uhm... Mr Arnold, I like your works and I was wondering... would you mind if we make a concert out of one of your themes?
D. Arnold: I guess not. BTW, who are you?

<G>

No, I think what we`re trying to pull here is something along the lines of:

Us: Um, excuse us Mr. Arnold, would you mind taking these track sheets, and recording them in concert at your spare time?

Mr. Arnold: Sure, why not, I`ll do it over night, guys.

Us: Gee, thanks Mr. Arnold.

Well, maybe not...

David Arnold doesnt orchestrate his music, Nicholas Dodd does. Nick is a nice guy...I have Arnold's agent address. I think there's a good possibility of him putting Wing Commmader on his live album before, say, Last of the Dogmen (his most ignored and also his best score).

I expect ID4, Stargate, his Bond work and maybe Godzilla too. Wing Commander's Overture is an "ignored" brassy, patriotic peice. It deserves to be on that CD if just cuz of that.

Theres no reason to petition for the David Arnold Live CD, it's already in the works. I think our petitioning should focus on our aforementioned Wing Commander Oldziey Orchestra Score!

Good dialog.
I say, what we really can use is find a guy who has the courage _and_ the guts to speak to Mr. Arnold _and/or_ Mr. Oldziey politely. Ask them to do it in their spare time so they won't feel stressed. Say it that we're going to use the songs for our own enjoyment. Say that whatever funds we have will be going to charity...

I have Arnold's agent's addy. I'll drop a line, since I planned on bothering Arnold for quite some time now.
