The Vega Sector's Usual Suspects (September 13, 2015)

Klavs has put together a nice lineup that compares the various Kilrathi capships that he's modeled over the last couple years. It helps illustrate why destroyers and light cruisers are so common in the fleet compared to formal carriers. Scroll down to the Hakaga to really get a sense of how that armada of massive supercarriers took its toll on the empire's resources and drove the bid for the false armistice. You can also find a cool wallpaper of these guys going on the offense here.

Very cool! Thanks, Klavs!

Would it be difficult to do this same view from the top?

And yet more evidence that the 22 km length of the Hvar'kann is just silly, however canonical it is.

So, how did they go from those massive Hakagas costing the Kilrathi too much resources, to the Hvar'kanns? Were they somehow more cost-effective?

They weren't particularly massive, in comparison. Whereas the Hakagas are dense armored beasts, more of the Hvar'kann is empty space relatively speaking. They must still have been even more resource intensive, but they were also probably built relatively "out in the open" where potentially more than just the Kiranka clan could participate and they didn't need to truck millions of tons of material across half the galaxy to the shipyard.

Someone totally has to do an End Run mini-series with all the effects they have now.... that novel just screams movie material to me.
