The thing about the Dralthi...

I looked in my old Armada Handbook for the dates and found that they are from the beginning of the year 2669 while WC III played at the end of 2669 - so the Dralthi from WC Armada could be the Mark III... couldn't it?

It could have been a special Dralthi version for that mission only, since it had many diferences from the main version that was in use, it get a new version name.

Yes perhaps it is taking place slightly earier but the capabilities of the ship as well as the fact that the IV must have been in service for a while to have been so often seen in WC3, which leads me to believe that the WCA one is probably a newer version

Ok. I have gone to the CIS database and I will put this.

As you can see the Dralthi of armada is jump capable, something that the Dralthi of WC III is not, that alone justifies the use of a new class designation.

There is nothing that says that the various Dralthi versions must REPLACE each other. As I think I said previously, the Dralthi IV (WC3,4,P) is most likely a carrier based escort fighter. The Dralthi VII (WCPriv) may be either a long-range raider or cheap militia fighter. There is no reason why the two fighters cannot be in production at the same time, since they serve two different purposes.

This is especially true if you consider that the name 'Dralthi' may be a manufacturers designation as opposed to a fighter 'name'. While we do reuse fighter names (e.g. P47 'Thunderbolt', A-10 'Thunderbolt II') there is generally a distinct break between the names. There are over 600 years difference between the Thunderbolts II and VII. A variation of the airframe, such as different weapons or engines, is generally given a variant letter, e.g. F-15D 'Eagle', or mark number, e.g. Mk I Spitfire. The term 'Dralthi' may apply to the manufacturer, or something similar, e.g. MiG-25 'Foxbat'.

Dralthi II-
SM2 Dralthi... loses ejection seat, gains better shields and mass driver cannons.
Dralthi III-
Movie Dralthi.
Dralthi IV-
(Version 1): WC3 Dralthi
(Version 2): WC4 Dralthi
(Version 3): WCP Dralthi -- *not* an actual production version, simply an upgraded IV-1 or IV-2.
Dralthi V-
Armada Dralthi, light fighter variant.
Dralthi VII-
(Version 1): Privateer Dralthi.
(Version 2): Rightous Fire Dralthi -- upgraded gun.

LOAF, I do not doubt your judgement in matters like this, but if these are now the 'official' designations, perhaps you'd like to fix up the ships list. :) I believe it mixes up the movie and Privateer Dralthis.

Then you're being stupid.:)

Seriously though, so what if they are similar? They are not in the same family, it's that simple.

But the game programmers meant them to be... :p

The banshee can kick the cantaurians ass (oops, did i say CANtaurian?), no doubt.

Why do you say that? The Banshee
has 4 lasers, weak shielding, weak armor, leach lasers,
8 missiles, and a scattergun.

I will describe the "typical" Centurion loadout as:
4 Tachyon cannons, 2 dual missile launchers with
IR missiles (for a total of 20), unlimited AB, unlimited
ECM, and speed and maneuverability consistent with a
heavy fighter.

Looking at them stacked up that way, I'd say the
Centurion has all the cards stacked in its favor.
Why then, do you say that the Banshee could defeat
one handily, given equally skilled pilots?

Respectfully,

Which Banshee are we speaking of - the Confed Banshee (Wing Commander Armada) or the Border Worlds Banshee (Wing Commander IV)?

Mr. Panties prove that that is what the game programers wanted

I haven't had experience with the Armada Banshee --
I thought he was talking about the WC IV Banshee,
which I wouldn't be caught dead in -- or rather that's
exactly how I would be caught, if I ever set foot in
one of those deathtraps. Dragons all the way, baby...

Napoleon, for the last time, it's "mpanty"...

Otherwise I'll just start calling you "nap"...

And concerning the Dralthi-Drakhri programming, it seems pretty obvious to me that from the word etymology, DRA_lthi
DRA_khri, that the Kilrathi ships followed a thread.

SA_lthi -- SA_rtha
JAL-thi -- JAL_kehi
RALA_ri -- RALA_tha
FRALTH_i -- FRALTH_ra

Hey, how is this deniable??! :p

The WC4 Banshee is a pretty good ship, actually... those lasers refire FAST, and with four guns firing that quickly, you're actually putting a fairly respectable amount of energy on-target.

the BW banshee is a good solid ship, but is by no means any good in my opinion, i perfer the Vindicator or pretty much anything with the WC4 stormfire
