Apart from the pointyness, it's a good start. What I'd do if I were you would be just add the overall curvyness to the shapes and use still images from Priv as reference to fix the aspect where it seems to be off (ie: wide wings).
I don't know what software you're using, but if you can take some of the Priv sprites, save them as .bmps, and use these .bmps as background for your modelling program's viewports, that'll already get you plenty of accuracy.
