Another Wing Commander III/IV ship considered for Arena was the Longbow bomber! The folks at Gaia liked the Longbow so much that they slipped it into the finished build - you can find rows of WC4-painted Longbows parked all along the lower platforms of the space station map!

That's really cool, I always thought the WC3 Longbow was pretty boring, this makes it a lot more interesting.

Without any scale reference, at first glance, I thought it was an Epee.

That looks more like an Epee to me... It's wings are too thin.

But again, do you have any 3D stuff related to this? No?

This image certainly makes the longbow look a little more sleeker and less armored. The front looks a little weird though, almost BSG cylon head like... Initially I thought Epee too. Can someone buy me an xbox? Damn them for not making a PC version >:\

The cockpit makes it look like a futuristic Ilya Muromet bomber from the first World War.

It's pretty neat how widely the concept artists drew inspiration. More than I can say for most scifi nowadays, sadly.

I also thought that this would be an concept for some kind of "super Epee" like there is a "super Ferret".
The wings make it looks like a light fighter. The ingame version allready looks a bit more like the original heavy ship we know from WC3. Anyway its an interesting design and that, even its not playable, made it into the game is a nice detail.
From a players view...if I had to choose between the Longbow and the Broadsword to fly I would have picked the Broadsword. So Gaia you made a good choise ^_^

What will be the next ship that will be shown? Is there also some concept art of any capships?

That's the concept art ship I liked best so far. It looks like a modern, sleeker Longbow but not necessarily lighter in my eyes. I think it looks even more bomber-like than the original Longbow.

It definitely looks like a cool retro throwback, it's like the 1950s Cadillac of Longbows. Big and roomy while riding in style. A squadron of those look like they would fit right in next to the Concordia.
