TCS Nonameyet

@Gevatter Lars:

TCS Bismarck (spelling man *g*)

But if you suggest a German name, then better take a city for the name. German ships are named after cities nowadays. Or do you suggest

TCS Prinz Eugen and
TCS Scharnhorst

too ? *g* I don't think those would sound very good, not talking about modern *g*
;)

Speaking of German names, I was wondering... there's a "TCS Dornier" in the Wing Commander IV novel. The only connection I can make is to aircraft from World War II (Dornier Do-17 and such)... is there some other meaning behind the name?

None I know of. I only know the aircraft building company as well.

This should be them I think:

Apart from that company the name Dornier does have no meaning to me, no. That company is still building aircraft and there's also a EADS company called Dornier-Satellites. I think those will be involved in the European Satellite Navigation System, which shall replace the US GPS system in Europe.

That's about all I know about that name.

No, but Vengeance might have. ;)

I don't vengeance is all that noble a concept for a ship name.

If that's the case, you'd be after TeeSeeEss. :p

I believe the tanker you refuel from on a strike in Novaya Kiev is called the Valdez.
Correct. The first mission Blair flies with Doomsday while on the Concordia was a strike against a Kilrathi Supply Depot. They jumped out, then rendevoused with the Valdez. They also refueled just before the return jump to the Concordia.

As for a name for a name for the so-called Bengal Mk2, how about TCS Raven?
A couple others:
TCS Spenser
TCS Lancaster

And the WWII Aircraft names start coming out:
TCS Corsair
TCS Avenger
TCS Gladiator
TCS Gurevich/TCS Mikoyan (the two men resposible for the MiGs)
TCS Defiant
TCS Blenheim
TCS Halifax
TCS Havoc
TCS Sparviero

That's pretty much it for WWII aircraft that could make for good names-the rest seem like they'd be better names for Confed fighters.

And a few others:
TCS Hustler (it looks faster than a normal Bengal, even if it's the same speed)
TCS Skywalker (Isn't that the guy from Star Wars?)
TCS Zodiac

TCS Windsuong.

Yes, it's spelled right, the spelling of "Suong" is Asian, pronounced "song". It's a girl's name.

Why should we name a capital ship after a fighter? We could name a fighter after a fighter. But, for capships, I think we should mostly stick with other capships, battles, places, etc.

Is the name TCS Trafalga in use during the WC3 timeline?
The Trafalga was a Bengal Carrier in WCATV that was destroyed.

TCS Trafalgar, after the Battle of Trafalgar (1805) (Also the namesake of WC3's TCS Victory -- after Admiral Nelson's flagship, the HMS Victory). There was, indeed, a second TCS Trafalgar... a heavy attack carrier which served up until her destruction at Vukar Tag in 2667.

TCS Normandy

The TCS Normandy was the 6th of the Tarawa-type Escort Carrier conversions. She was destroyed in the Pakgh System in 2668.

TCS Thunderbolt

The Thunderbolt VII is, of course, one of the player-fighters from Wing Commander III.

TCS Wildcat

Wildcat-class fighters were the top-of-the-line Confederation ships at the outset of the war (circa 2634).

TCS Corsair

Corsair-class fighters were the planned replacement for the Wildcats, in the late 2630s'/early 2640s.

TCS Avenger

Avenger-class ships were one of the player-fighters from Wing Commander IV. They show up as a type of Confed shuttle in Wing Commander Academy.

TCS Gladiator

Gladiator-class bombers were a Confed pre-war design.

TCS Hurricane

Hurricane-class fighters were a pre-war Confed design, second in quality to the Wildcat-class.
