Striker's Raptors Defend The Falcon (March 15, 2005)

Major Striker has put together a new animation that's a compilation that combines several of his recent works. The animation features an attack on a Bengal Class Carrier and some dogfighting between some Dralthi and Raptors. The three and a half minute scene comes in at 30 megs and you'll probably need DivX. The file is available here or here.

It's just a little skirmish involving my untextured retrofitted Bengal model and my newly revamped Raptor models.

It's a little bit dark here and there, so turn up your brightness if the shadows are too heavy in parts.

Impressive. Good work as always. I liked seeing the insides of the Bengal where the raptor was scrambling while the dralthi were attacking. I remember that hangar with the bright shiny floor you posted a few threads back with a raptor in it. Overall, very nice.

Another thing I was wondering... right at the beginning of the video when it said "Goodwin Studios", was that clip of music from the original Command and Conquer? I swear it is as it just hit me when I first heard it.

well i like this one much better than previous 2 animations. the effect of the shaking hands brings a lot to the scene's realism, looks like a real dogfight. Very good work.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the comments. Luminon, you're right the background music on the studios logo is from C&C I think it is March to Doom. I just threw it in there quickly for background noise and faded it out. I'm not one with sound...I know the basics of manipulation but that's about it. That's why there is no explosion sounds or gun noises in this animation because I'm just not any good at engineering it.

As for more...well, I'd like to but I think I need to take a break from animation for a bit. When I look at my work I just see how awful it is compared to the other artists so I think I need to just give it a rest for a while.

You get better with every try so keep it up.
I allready liked that animation more then the others and your models seam to become better and better...at least the Carrier seams to be more detailed then the last time.
Keep making animations and models...its the only way to become better.
Little think I would do different is...use more light. Maybe some spotlights that lighten up the hull just for the look of it.
Other thing is don't overuse the shaking of the camera. Its a very dynamic camera and looks very good in the dogfight scenes, but give the viewer also some beautyshots...special where just the carrier passes by.
So keep up the good work you getting better....no need to hide.
