Standoff Drakhri: One of the toughest enemy ships?

Why did the Salthi become the Sartha?
Jalkehi sounds related to Jalthi, but no dice, at least in my book.
Ralari and Fralthi also seemed close to Ralatha and Fralthra, but not quite the same....

WC2's ship names often felt like corrupted versions of their WC1 counterparts, at least when I first loaded it up.

You know, now that I have reflected on my infinite wisdom, I think I made a mistake. It's easy to look back from at the sum of Wing Commander work and question why there was no Dralthi variant in WC2. In reality, though, the designers had no idea the Dralthi would obtain such iconic status. At the time, there really was no more reason to include a Dralthi in WC2 than a Scimitar.

Gangbanging Drakhris ruined the Hakaga mission in a Crossbow.

The DFs never bothered me as much as the neverending stream of laser bolts.

Yeah, I'm sure that was the point. It's kinda weird complaining about names in some made up language we don't understand sounding too much alike, anyway.

DFs seem to be drawn to me when I'm about to finish some of the harder missions. I can see the end of the tunnel then WHAM! Sartha or Drakhri lets go with one and it's time to start all over.

Stop smoking all those DFs - it's bad for your health.

Nothing feels better than rolling out just before one them slams into your fighter. Like the move of true master.

Yeah, it's funny how mere lasers are supposed to be the least powerful fighter-borne weapon, but the instant you get hit with a few triple-touches of the Drakhri lasers, you're suddenly wondering why you lost paint, armor and a few systems while cursing the shields for seeming to be wet tissue.

I had this issue in WC2, much less Standoff, and somehow I always find myself disrespecting that triple-cannon of theirs when I'm head to head. Then I get amazingly vengeful when I have no forward armor left, as I'll go with my personal motto of, "In war, there is no such thing as overkill" as I keep pouring fire into the debris of the damned thing just to make sure that even the least important bolt turns to slag. I always learn my lesson during that particular sortie...then I somehow forget that lesson during the next one...

I figure it's the rate of fire. Good ol' damage per unit time. If you don't flinch away after the first hit, all guns do roughly the same damage per second, with the particle cannon doing only slightly more and the neutron gun doing only slightly less.

Also, the Drakhri's guns are so tightly clustered that if you get hit by one, you'll probably get hit by all three. Not like the Krant, whose mass drivers are so widely spaced that you'll quite likely only get hit by one. Same goes for the Gothri.

That said, the Drakhri was still not anywhere near as dangerous in WC2 as it is in Standoff.
