Spirit anime artwork

Hey, I've been looking about on the Net for anything to do with Wing Commander and Spirit and what not. Some good stuff about like how one web site thinks she's one of the best characters of all time and stuff. Anyway, this guy had drawn a piece of artwork of her, done in the style of Japanese animation. It looks real good. The guy's apparently done a number of pics like this on Wing Commander, but I can't get the link to work. The web site with the Mariko pic is below, and the link's there. Any ideas on how to get there?

Oh well -- apparently bl.org just doesn't let you do empty directories anymore. Here are the images:

They're actually from one of the Japanese WC1 manuals (the Super Famicom version, I think...). I scanned them in a few months back.

Thanks a lot. Thanks a real lot. They're keeeeewl. It's funny that they look like characters from a kids game (emphasis on kids) when, in later games, it's quite gritty and the characters had taken lessons from Demo Dick Marcinko (the language gets a bit rough).

Actually that kind of art style is used in adult-oriented stories as well. In Japan, "kids' stuff" is determined more by content than by drawing style (Trust me--I LIVE in Tokyo).

Oh believe me I know. I love their stuff, and some of what they have is a bit rough, I agree. It reminds me of Trigun, the style of artwork. On the subject, I simply love Angel. It doesn't look anything like her, but my how I laughed when I saw her art. She reminded me more of Meryl from Metal Gear.

Tanaka you are from Tokio Huh ??

Yo! WingCommander fans all over the world!!

P.S. MetalGear is perfect (all of them)

With a name like Tanaka you'd think. Nah, I'm not, but I watch this stuff all the time. Trigun and Evangelion would be some of my favourites, as well as others too numorous to mention. Heck, I even have some that I haven't seen yet (Crying Freeman, Dagobauh...or that one with the very Star Wars sounding name, and Dominion Tank Police among them). I suppose you could call me Frankie the Bat, for all the Max Payne fans out there.

No anime mentioning thread would be complete without Multi.

Super Wing Commander. Wing Commander for the Macintosh and 3DO. I think.

Yeah, it was on the 3DO, I know that much. What do the other characters look like, do you know? By the way, I really liked that Gamespot article. A fitting tribute, even if Miss Fat Tits Lara Croft gets all the votes.
