Eh? It's an old Confed destroyer, converted to a carrier.

Nothing in SO tells us that the Cerberus is the first Hades ever built...

Yes EW in the opening sequence it says something like: Governor, I am proud to present to you the first of a new class of ship...

EW: also where are we told that Durango's are modified destoryers, I made note of that becuase I have seen them called that, but not because I knew the reason why

Tiger's Claw (CV-07) - Bengal class Strike Carrier
Concordia (CVS-65) - Confederation class Dreadnought
Victory (CV-40) - Ranger class Light Carrier
Lexington (CV-44) - Concordia class Fleet Carrier
Intrepid (CV-06) - Durango class Heavy Destroyer
Midway (CVX-01) - Midway class Heavy Carrier
Cerberus - Hades class Quick Strike Cruiser
Behemoth - Behemoth class Dreadnought

Regarding the Hades: If you'll check the 'spec sheet' for the Hades class ships, you'll find that the first one produced was, indeed, the TCS Hades (a testbed - it's noted at the bottom).

Regarding the Durangos: This comes from both the WC4 Script (as posted to Origin's Official Site in 1996) and the TPOF novel.

Regarding Henry: I (heart) bad jokes.

Far be it from me to question your l33t trivia skillz, LOAF, but why is the Concordia a dreadnaught? Shouldn't it be a carrier?

Its on the WCII manual, Confederation class Dreadnought.
And here its the old girl stats.

Dreadnoughts carry both fighters *and* the offensive weaponry of a SuperCruiser or Battleship -- the Concordia (CVS-65) mounts the infamous Phase Transit Cannon.

And it blows stuff up good (of course... theoretically it also could have blown itself up... but it didn't :) )

I wish the various sci fi communities would get together and find a common set of qualifications for their ships.

Here, a dred can carry fighters and big guns. Star Wars, a dred can carry fighters but it for the most part secondary to other cap ships (though they used to be the main ships). Star Trek it's just a capship, no fighters other than shuttles. Master of Orion it was the same as Trek. Independence War... well, that doesn't count, Dreadnaught was the name of the ship, not it's class.

It carries at least a squadron of fighters, should be a carrier. Oh well.

Tye, don't make me thwak you :) What other 'universes' call a dreadnought really has no bearing on this...

TC

Well in Star Wars we got Destroyers that are bigger and carry more fighters that Carriers.
The Star Trek does not use Fighters, so why a Dreadnaught would have Fighters?
And that says all........

Star Trek does have fighters... but this isn't something that we should be getting into here.

TC

Dragon, Star Destroyer is different than what you're thinking. It's Star Destroyer class, like the entreprise has been constitution class, and galaxy class, etc. Just like the Victory was ranger class.

but let's not get started on that.

Many WC destroyers and cruisers carry more than one squadron of fighters -- but their speed, armor and weaponry defines them.

Its not Star Destoyer Class, there is the Victory Class Star Destroyer, the Imperial Class Star Destroyer and the Super Star Destroyer (that does not have a name class)
And yes there are Fighter on Star Trek but they are very rare....
