Should Confed reactivate the Behemoths?

No offense, but what's with the zany leaps of logic in this thread? Because Confed doesn't have a targetting device, they obviously aren't firing the weapon at full strength? THAT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE.

(Besides, we have the stats for the weapon from the WCP Guide... we know exactly what it can do. It's no Behemoth.)

i dont think confed should not reactivate the behemoths or the temblor bomb. both are weapons of mass destruction and thus unacceptable against any enemy. i doubt there is any way either weapon could be used without killing millions of innocent civilians. it would thus be inhuman to use them and make confed just as ruthless and vicious as the kilrathi were with bioweapons.

I would have a hard time shedding tears over dead bugs myself. The problem I have with using weapons of mass destructions is that it invites retaliation in kind. When the Kilrathi did it to us with with Strontium-90 nukes and bio-weapons, we had no compunctions of hitting back with the T-bomb.

Similarly, if we start using them against the Nephilim, the bugs could too. Given that they know where our homeworlds are (but we don't know where theirs is) and that their wormholes give them a very good chance of jumping past any defenses we can set up to reach our homeworlds, do we really want to escalate the conflict to that level?

I think the Nephilim would quite happily use their most powerful weapons without any provocation. They don't care about humans or Kilrathi, we're just in the way.

With the amount of..batteries?..that the thing commits to building up power, it might solve the overload problem. A battle group consisting of one Midway, one modified Behemoth, and all the other support ships would definitely be a force for the Nephilim to reckon with. Then mass produce, and you've got yourself some good quality Terminex!

The "bleeding heart" routine may still bear some merit -- it's quite possible that, somewhere, somehow there are bug civilians and bug families with little bug boys and girls who go to bug school and dream of growing up and being doctor and lawyer bugs. We don't know because WE HAVEN'T EVER SEEN A BUG PLANET -- which is the most simple and obvious flaw in wanting to use weapons that destroy planets against them.

Just because it's a different species, doesn't mean they're necessarily the 100% evil guys that don't deserve to live...
They are here, because we got attacked first, for no apparent reason, so we have the right to defend ourselves... apparently they are looking for trouble...

They are bugs/crustacean/aliens , we do not even know if they understand the concept of evil. They very well could be methodical little jerks who are predisposed to studying/conquering/and then destroying other races. They might even think what they are doing is the only thing/right thing to do (i.e. the Yuzzan Vong from Star Wars(sorry) believed that since they were dying, that they had a right to destroy a new galaxy to support themselves. Another reason for them doing this is that their religion despises machinery. And the star wars civilizations being very mechanical ones, were thought to be infidels, also giving the Vong the right to destroy em. This might also apply for the Nephilim. If you have noticed, their ships look very organic, as opposed to the mechanic look of Terran/Kat ships. And they might be fleeing their home galaxy because it is now hostile. But all of this is conjecture, simply because no one has ever been to their home galaxy or witnessed "bug culture".)

I dont think anyone has suggested that the Nephilim come from another galaxy. Frankly ours is big enough that the Confederation could expand until it falls and never get so far as to reach Nephilim borders. And hopefully when (not if) they do come up with an explanation it wont be a rip off of some other scifi idea, no matter how good it sounds.

Hmm they might be closer than you think...Now i remember that the kats had a conflict with another race called the Mantu. Aparently some people claim that the nephilim are the Mantu. I found this claim out in a site called Definative Guide to WC. Check it out. I wonder how big these guys really are if the kats ran into them and managed to pull of a Draw these guys arent as tough as there "rep" has shown them.

Nah, just read the ICIS manual that came with Prophecy and they pretty much rule out that it could be the Mantu. Now the Mantu, ARE much closer. Thats why the Nephilim need a wormhole in the first place.

Nope... so far it's only been mentioned that they are in a different system. It's probably a very distant system. They have jump capabilities, but chose to use wormholes instead which probably means that for the "Nephilim", wormholes were faster ways to get to the Terran and Kilrathi systems.
