Ship Stats

Farbourne

Rear Admiral
Quick, stupid question.

Is there a nice central (online) place where all the stats for all the different WC fighters (top speed, cruising speed, y/p/r, guns/missiles, gun capacitor energy capacity, armor/shield ratings, etc.) and guns (range, damage, fire delay, energy draw) are listed in a nice accessible place?

The Ships Database linked off the CIC front page looks like it has most of this, but not all, and seems to have not been updated since 2002! Plus some of the ship links don't seem to work (notably the Arrow, in any time era), or are linked to the wrong page. Plus it's difficult to navigate among the guns and missiles...you have to find a fighter that carries the ones you are interested in and click on them there, instead of having everything available in links off some main webpage.

Plus I've noticed that a lot of time when people are citing ship stats in these discussion threads, they stats they cite (apparently with some authority) do not match what is listed in the CIC database. Also, the database itself is not self-consistent--for example, fighters in the WC2 era have Y/P/R of about 5-10 degrees/s, whereas fighters from WC3 have Y/P/R of 40-80 degrees/s... I'm pretty sure maneuvering technology didn't change that drastically in the two or three intervening years! :-) (Especially because some of the WC3 era ships are actually older than some of the WC2 era ones!)

Am I just looking in the wrong place, or is that all there is right now?

Take a quick look at the WC1, 2, 3 manuals. There is a crazy jump in the nature of published ship statistics between WC2 and WC3. Although nobody can really say that the published data are 'wrong' there is clearly some variation between published information and in-game information. For one thing, it does not take a Scimitar, as sluggish as it is, half a minute to make a 180-degree turn. For another, WC3 publishes the Hellcat V as being armed with two lasers and two ion guns, whereas in-game it is armed with two ion guns and two neutron guns.

Make whatever peace you need to with the oddities of the data. Different people have different explanations, and this has been discussed on the boards before in older threads.

Ships2 is missing a bunch of links/pages just remove the "2" from /ships2 and you'll be able to look at the old ships database. All the links work on the old version.

Thanks for the tip. ships seems to work much better than ships2.

Right, all the links should work in /ships. But as you can see in /ships2, there are variations on many fighters that will cause the differences in specs that you see here. The YPR data in the original ships database pretty much just comes from Claw Marks and Joan's, which uses the single digit numbers that obviously don't match how fast you actually turn.
