Shields in WCP?

Colliding ships during battle

I often saw Confed Stillettos colliding into eachother in Privateer! Once I jumped into Blockade Point Tango and saw 3 Confed Stillettos engaged with 5 Kilrathi Gothris. Two of the Confed ships did some fancy move and flew head on right into eachother! :D I couldnt stop laughing I ended up getting a pounding from the Kilrathi! I jumped out just in time before my armor was completely gone! The same thing happend with 2 mercenary ships engaged with some pirates! I have also seen the pirates run into eachother or attempt to ram a Brayman cargo ship! Now there is some funny stuff to see!

I saw that alot in WCP, particularly where you go save Blair at the Kilrathi starbase. As the marines are getting him out and the bugs are eliminated, half of your flight group flies around the base constantly running into it! One Panther had some damage and continued to run into the base and eventually damaged his ship to a point he had to eject! I wondered where he learned how to fly! Maybe they are doing something else other than looking where they are going! Two other Panthers kept running into eachother and as I was monitoring one of them, the damage kept going up and up! I just couldnt stop laughing! Another funny thing about that is when your wing constantly run into you while your flying around! Or run into your ship after you catapult out of the Midway!

Yeah, it happened a lot in WC I too...

I remember that those stupid wingmen HAD to fly in formation even if that meant colliding with the Tiger's Claw...

If say, they flew on your right, and you approched the Claw parallel to the flight deck, but slightly off to the left, your wingman would bump into the capship...
If you stopped your engines, it would continue bumping into it until he blew up... :(

Sad... especially if it happened after a tough mission. You had to do it all over again if you didn't want to fly solo the next missions (or did not want to miss dialogues at the bar... :))

Oh yes, my WC wingmen flying in the Claw. In the last mission of WC1 I had done it all, killed the Fralthi and all defending fighters of the base (with the help of Hunter, of course) and then Hunter, already damaged, rammed the Tiger's Claw. Good bye Pewter Planet :(
And asteroids are a real bane to the bugs and your wingmen. You should think that the asteroids in WCP and SOPS are big and slow enough to be avoided but... :)

Stubborn wingmen who don't like going home when you tell them to are good for that trick in WC2.

eg Approach the Concordia until your shields touch. Your stubborn wingman, say Stingray, maintains formation on your left. You turn right ninety degrees, and - crash, smash, BOOM! - "Damn! Ejecting, sir!"

Then off you go, taking all the kills in the mission for yourself. :)

Mmmmmh... ever realised that this trick just makes the mission harder, Wedge? :)

Of course, you're a pro aren't you? ;)
