LOAF is keeping the streak alive! The Secret Missions 2: Crusade turns 25 years old this Wednesday, April 6, so he'll be leading another streaming play through of the game this coming weekend on Saturday, April 9. Although the game will once again throw unfair odds at his trusty Hornet, LOAF is up to the challenge. Fellow Wingnuts will also get to see how he flies a Dralthi and fights against terrifying Hhriss and Snakeirs as he defends the Firekkans. More details will be confirmed closer to the event, but expect a late morning (US Pacific Time) start to the event on Twitch.

In one week, we embark upon the great Crusade. #therewillbebirds

The Secret Missions 2: Crusade, another exciting chapter in the saga of the Tiger's Claw! In this campaign, a huge Kilrathi fleet maneuvers toward a planet of peaceful, primitive natives. After a Kilrathi renegade defects with the crew of a small destroyer, you'll fly one of their fighterships in undercover missions.

In these new secret missions, you must discover the truth behind the Kilrathi "holy war" before the Warriors of Kilrah can destroy you and the Tiger's Claw!

If anyone is interested in dialing in please let me know! (Or if you're in the Los Angeles area and would like to stop by.)

I'm busy most of Saturday so not sure I can swing a call-in. If I do it would be later in the afternoon/evening. I'm thinking logistically it won't work out though. Normally Saturday would be a good day... just not *this* Saturday.

Cool! If you do not start too early, I can maybe catch the stream from the beginning, once the little one is sleeping. But anyway, I'll tune in at least for a while.

It's going to be a challenge keeping all of those wingmen alive given the odds.

Although there's one we might not try too hard to save ;)

Of course i missed it lol. Hopefully this will be on YouTube tonight so i can crack open a few beers and watch it?

seems to work for him. beat the whole shebang faster than I expected :D

That is true - I though to myself "Well, locking targets does not seem to be that important." But it is really ingrained into me what with the "Focus on one target, don't wound one and then hunt down another one while the first one is recharching shields." Obviously, LOAF didn't do that (except when appropriate in a defend/escort mission) but it just more comfortable when the VDU does not switch targets all the same.

(And not speeding up from cruise speed...)

On an escort mission, I'll switch targets as the situation requires (although my record with escort missions is not the best) - but yeah, focusing on one target at a time is pretty much the only option against the Hhriss.

I still cannot understand why LOAF does not lock targets. Pressing "L" is still kind of automatic for me...

I guess it does depend a bit on how often you want to switch targets. If you always want to aim for whatever ship is closest and whichever is in front of you then it works out. You also only really need to lock on for missiles. If you focus on your aim and shooting skills then you don't have to worry so much about locking on.

Hoping to have it on YT this weekend; the direct transfer fails every time we try, so we're going to have to record it and upload it... but we can't free up a machine for eight hours to do that during work :)

It's very odd, I fly totally differently live. I think it's a miss of the different setup (no throttle, so I hit afterburner instead of changing speeds and then smash into things!) and the general pressure of playing 'right' live. When I'm by myself I tent to take it very slow, always target and fight a more ranged battle.

The big problem with the lock is that the anti-aliasing we use to make the game smooth on the stream also makes it difficult to see red on the radar... so I tended to play as though my radar was disabled.

Ben you could always compress the video file into a youtube mkv file. I find it much easier to upload a 1gb video to youtube instead of a 40gb video lol. I learned that the hard way.
